And just for the record, I never doubted that she had won fair and square. Just reading about all the effort she put into it let you know that SHE WORKED FOR IT! This past week my kids participated in the 4H Fair. They all showed swine. They all did very well, getting high blue ribbons in market and also in showmanship. When it came to the auction, Shalana got $2.50/lb, Levi got $3.00/lb and Maverick got $4.75/lb. There were others in our club who got the same as Maverick and others who got less than Shalana. This is the first year my family has come and really watched the auction. Maverick has been in 4H for years and has shown a pig for 5 years. They know him there. He is there on work day, and camps out during the week and does his barn duty and feeds his pig and does what the rest of the kids do. They have the exact same expectations of him. (except that his dad or sister are always shadowing him.....LOL) Maverick is totally accepted as a 4H member. Nothing more, nothing less. But my sister had to make the comment that he got that much money because he had down syndrome. Totally blew the auction for me. Guest guest
, Does your 4-H have a showmanship event where the kids have to show their pigs? Ours is the most fun of the event, kids come up with fun ways to shine with their pigs .... ribbons on tails, bows on heads. One year I made my son a tie from fabric printed with pigs and a bib for his pig of the same fabric! ;-) Cheryl in VA

Trista's score was number 6 on the list. So not only did she make it on her own efforts, but she also scored in the top half!
