Guest guest
Vern, What you have accomplished would have been completely impossible only a couple of years ago. You are truly a marvel, and every DC in the state owes an enormous thanks to you (and that includes the ODOC folks as well as the unaffiliated docs getting the free ride). We have come a long way since we were "happy campers" with senate bill 1197. "Chiropractor of the Day Program" has been official approved! This is going to be HUGE for the profession for years to come, it's all about being a presence in Salem. Dear colleagues I've just returned form testifying in front of the "Legislative Administrative Committee" Co-Chaired by the Speaker of the House and Senate President. Subsequent to that testimony the Committee by unanimous vote approved the Chiropractor of the Day program. How will it work? We will have a treatment room with a chiropractic treatment table and other equipment at the Capitol building. All colleagues in the state will be invited to participate. The colleague who is the "Chiropractor of the Day" will provide "urgent care" to Legislators or their staff. The doctor of the day will wear a pager and the legislator or staff person wishing a treatment will simply page our colleague who will meet them in the treatment room. The Chiropractor of the Day will be recognized by his or her Senator or Representative from the Senate or House floor (great PR for the profession). I will help colleagues also set meetings with their Senator or Rep to discuss our legislative proposals etc. Basic requirements will include proof of licensure, malpractice coverage, and proper charting. Other details will be worked out between the profession and the Admistrator We will be sending out a statewide mailer for all doctors in the state asking if they are interested in participating. This is going to be great colleagues, it's going to be HUGE!!! Score one for the profession guys and gals we hit a homerun today! ....and we will be hitting more balls out of the park come this 2005 Legislative Session. Guest guest
Thanks, yes it's indeed a great day for chiropractic and only a harbinger for things to come! The CAO leadership has been communicating with our ODOC colleagues relative to legislative issues that may effect the profession. I am very pleased indeed to announce that the ODOC and CAO leaderships have agreed to work together relative to our legislative goals. Our two groups will be sitting down together to discuss legislative issues to determine areas of agreement and when found work in a corporative manner and as such provide a united and well orchestrated chiropractic voice at the capitol come this 2005 session. In that spirit I have invited our ODOC colleagues to share equal ownership in the "Chiropractor of the Day" program. Our ODOC colleagues will be invited to participate in the initial "pounding out the details" of the program with the Capitol Administrator. Hence this will not be an official CAO program, nor an official ODOC program, but rather a "Chiropractic Program." Vern RE: "Chiropractor of the Day" at Salem Capitol Building Approved! Guest guest
Well Done!! Vern, Excellent job on negotiating the path to us providing hands on treatment to our legislative representatives! This will be a wonderful opportunity for us to educate the representatives on what services we can provide and demonstrate our effectiveness in treating a multitude of health-related concerns. This indeed is a banner day for our profession and I thank you for your tireless efforts on our behalf. J. Vissers, DC "Chiropractor of the Day" at Salem Capitol Building Approved!
