Guest guest
Speaking of mishaps, this one doesn't involve Maverick but it is still a funny one that we still laugh about today. When we lived in Wisconsin, we had a group home for developmentally disabled adults. Two of the people there didn't have any family who were invovled in their lives. When we moved to Arizona we promised they could come visit us......so, for the past 20 years and (both with ds) have spent 2 weeks at Christmas with us. Haven't missed one yet. About 18 years ago, our kids were all little and we had several foster children. We took them to Old Tucson (a movie studio/tourist trap). My sister and her 3 kids went with us. When it was time for lunch we sat at picnic tables. These were the style where the bench was still attached to the table. and and my sister were on one side. A child and and I were on the other. We sat the kids down and were filling their plates while my sister stayed at the table with them. and I got up to go get deserts for some of the kids. We were on our way back to the table, but still way across the room when we saw the child who was also on our side of the table get up and walk away from the table. As she did, the whole table tipped..in slow motion. and I could do nothing but watch as it s l o w l y tipped so all who were sitting on the seat were laying on their backs...with this table hovering above them. All the plates slowly slide down the table to land squarely on their chests. It went so slowly that no one got hurt. just lay there saying, " , ! " Like it was his fault. never missed a beat, picked up the chicken off his chest and continued to eat. My sister was laying there embarrassed, with her legs on the seat and still up in the air. She had beans all the way up her sleeves. and I were bent over double laughing we could barely make our way over to the table to set it up. That is a memory we will never forget. ¸...¸ __/ /\____ ________ ,·´º o`·,/__/ _/\_ //____/\ ```)¨(´´´ | | | | | | | || |l±±±± | ¸,.-·²°´ ¸,.-·~·~·-.,¸ `°²·-. :º° As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. 24:

Guest guest
We had a similar thing happen to us when we went camping with a bunch of developmentally disabled teens and adults. But this one wasn't funny because the picnic table happened to be on a slight incline and the table went over fast. Only three people were on the side of the picnic table that went over backwards, two were very large, 30-ish women, one with Down Syndrome and the other with another developmental disability and the third person was my son (who has Down Syndrome), who at the time was quite a large teenager. As the last person got up from across from them, the table started to tip--the person tried to stop it but could not. Both of the women who fell over with the table were quite low functioning and did not understand at all. The one with Down Syndrome thought it was the fault of the other and started kicking her while they were laying there on the ground. The other started crying out in confusion. My son was very upset and just barely missed getting conked out cold by the dumpster behind him. I remember feeling quite helpless as I watched the table flip up onto them. No one laughed and several non-disabled adults were scrambling to rescue the three very upset people from under the table. My son was scraped up pretty badly and was quite upset that his fresh plate of food was now all over the ground. He would not calm down until we had a fresh plate of food in front of him again. And we made sure there were people on both sides of the picnic table. We also complained to the people who owned the campground about moving that table so that it was not on an incline. the Dreamer Michdock@... wrote: > > Speaking of mishaps, this one doesn't involve Maverick but it is still a > funny one that we still laugh about today. > When we lived in Wisconsin, we had a group home for developmentally disabled > adults.
