I vote to include good staff and affiliated folks.

If you know anything about " blind " chiropractic reviewers who do not sign and are not required to sign their reports, you should know that treachery is always with us.

I assume that every post goes to our enemies and you should too.

The e-mail from Stockton below raises a membership issue. is with Cedar Mills Chiropractic but is not an Oregon licensed DC. Her posts have been intelligent and interesting and I think add to the listserve, but technically she is not supposed to post (going by our membership rules). I would propose that we exempt the rules for her as we have for Dave McTeague and a couple of attorneys on the listserve, as it is a benefit to have their input. If there are any objections please send them to me offlist, and I will figure out what to do.

We have run into problems choosing diagnosis codes which the insurance

carriers like.

For instance, cervical capsulitis (a sprain or acute irritation of the

cervical synovial joints called facet joints by some doctors.

DENIED!

How about cervical facet joint imbrication?

DENIED!

Posterior facet syndrome?

DENIED!

Cervical sprain?

Gooooooood. Fine. We will now pay your bill.

OK, let's see if we can work with this.

Dermatologist sends in a dx. of vericella zoster erythema (I just made that

up but I meant " a face rash secondary to herpes virus erupting in the

distribution of the trigeminal nerve " )

Postherpetic trigeminal neuralgia 053.12

but they aren't really treating the patient for neuralgia, they are treating

the RASH because it hurts, itches and is at risk for scarring the pt.'s

face.

Soooooo they try:

Rash and other nonspecific skin eruption

But wait, they want to mention that it is related to herpes or the part of

the treatment specific to herpes.

Do they get a denial for care?

No.

Why? Because the patient gets the denial.

But if by chance the dermatologist wants to help out a friend, they should

dumb down the dx. to "

The conclusion is, you go to school to learn to diagnose accurately then you

get out and learn to choose diagnosis from the list not for accuracy but for

ease of payment.

It would be tragic if they dumbed down our communication and then split.

Don't worry I am still here, but my whining is done offline.

I will say that I have never whined about a jingoistic email in my

life. I take that back, I just looked that word up. I have whined
