Guest guest
Okay guys i know I am way off topic here but i was so angry today. Micah just started with all new therapists except his OT because he just recently transitioned into preschool from early Intervention. Anyway his Speech therapist called me friday to tell me that she would be starting on Monday and to ask for directions. She mentioned that she had been very ill the past week so i nicely told her that if she wasn't feeling well to please not come until she was as Micah has spent 4 hospitalizations for pneumonia alone and that we had been basically hibernating to avoid the flu. She assured me she was feeling better and on an antibiotic (of no use if she had virus or flu, Anyway she calls Monday morning to tell me she was really ill and not coming. I thanked her for calling and not coming and repeated Do not come until you are completely well. , after she said I think I will be bnetter tomorrow. But she assured me she would call early the next morning. Well I left at 9:30 to take Micah to nursery school and do the food shopping and when I got home there was a message that she was fine and coming. She shows up SICK!! I didn't know it right away but as she begins to work with Micah she is sniffling and coughing nd I was livid. I didn't say anything to her because I was so mad I wanted to spit (would have said something regrettable) as soon as she left 20 minutes later I called agency and told them Do not send that girl back, explained situation and the woman I spoke with was very understanding. i get a call an hour later from another woman who tells me " Well you wanted someone who could sign and she is all we have " really nasty too! So did i want to wait until she was well and have her come back or they couldn't help me with a therapist. I said What good is a therapist if my child end up in hospital ill. He won't be getting ANY therapy then. And NO I DO NOT WANT HER BACK. Sometimes I get so frustrated with the system It is only common sense that you don't go into a baby's home ill. You'll love this, the therapist was telling my three year old baby that she didn't feel well but it was good he was healthy although Everyone gets sick in the winter, that's just the way it is. GRRRRR Sometimes I want to throw everyone out and do it all by myself. Thanks for listening guys I feel better now. And for those on list that are therapists disregard me, I know there are excellent therapists out there I have had them but this just took the cake and I had to Vent. Guest guest
I know just what you mean. My problem with this kind of thing was " friends " and Neighbors and my daughter who did not have DS. When she was very small she got a new cold about once a month and would be sick for about 3 weeks. Invariably, she would get seriously sick and had pneumonia several times. But they would bring their kids over to play and finally t ell me that so & so had a bad cold. would get it every time. I don't think many people realize that colds are caused by germs from others with colds. My neighbor has a cold now and sounds awful. She's 86 years old and has chronic bronchitis so needs to be careful. But since she has a sore throat she thinks the cold is from breathing the cold air. I told her she must have got germs somewhere but I know she didn't believe me. She really should go to the doctor but I am not going to volunteer to take her. We've been lucky so far, not getting out much, and I'm not taking a chance. She has a daughter who could do it. hardly ever had a cold or was sick with anything as a child. She had most of the things he should have had. Strange, isn't it? Jessie
