Guest guest
All, Occasionally I treat myself to one or two donuts now and then -- rarely Krispy Kreme as they're smallish, oversweet and overpriced -- but I took the opportunity to eat one yesterday. Unfortunately, after I ate just one donut, I noticed the food label on the underside of the little box was adhering to the new regulations about disclosing trans-fats (since it was being sold at a grocery store not the franchise). Much to my dismay, there's an incredible 4 grams of trans-fat (out of 12 grams total fat) in just *one* Krispy Kreme donut! That is twice the level that CSPI recommends as a daily maximum limit, which is also to include the natural sources from meat and dairy. I don't know about the puffier and less sweet " mom and pop " glazed donuts, but all donuts are now DONOTS for me. The scary thing to truly consider is how many and how often of these deadly things that average people eat, especially Krispy Kreme.
