Their food lists are a bit puzzling: fifty ways to list chicken breast (with bone, for instance -- who cares?), uncooked beans and peas (a little too crunchy for me), unprepared dry mixes, etc, and yet several typical foods I eat aren't listed. I often have to go to CalorieKing to get estimated calorie content and then go back into FitDay to log it. I bought their software. It's a lot like the online version. I never use the software though, because I log my foods at work, on vacation, etc, and it helps to have it online so I can keep all the data in one place. I have no idea if they are good or not. http://mybiochemistry.com where you apparently set up an account and upload your daily intake data. " The foods database holds 6,210 items from the latest (Release 13, 2000) United States Department of Agriculture Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. Included are all the food composition data published in the 21 volumes of Agriculture Handbook No. 8 (U.S. Department of Agriculture 1976B88), and its four supplements (U.S. Department of Agriculture 1990B93). Data were compiled from published and unpublished sources. Published sources include the scientific and technical literature. " Also, I just now looked for a replacement for the USDA one mentioned in your files section (the one where the link is dead). It's The Interactive Healthy Eating Index http://209.48.219.53/ Speaking of the files section, if you hadn't given a specific pointer to the specific file that describes the programs being discussed, I doubt that I (or most) would have waded through everything in order to arrive at the correct place. Yes, I had noticed the File Index. I'd still suggest you need to somehow make the files searchable, and therefore more useful. -- Regards, Ken
