Why don't you just tell her that you'd love to answer ALL of those

questions, but you are just so busy right now, and your range of knowledge

is limited. Recommend that she join a good online list instead.

I can definitely undersand helping a " newbie " , but she is expecting you to

be her private tutor. That's a bit much, unless she offers to pay you for

it, etc.

Hi nne!

It is good to see you, but....well...

Gosh, if I were in your shoes, I think I would tell these

people in the kindest fashion that your recipes have taken

you some time to figure out and you feel they are " yours " .

I think Ela is right in that you could suggest they join some

email groups to get ideas. Maybe you could even suggest

a couple. The message sounded like your " friend " was trying

to purge as much info as she dared, then kinda " smoothed "

things over by saying she would be ordering soon!

If you don't want to give out a lot of info, merely point these

people in the direction to find out info themselves. You have

been working on things for quite awhile. so you shouldn't

have to divulge all if you feel uncomfortable in so doing.

There is a wealth of info on the net...

Just my 2¢

I agree with Ela and Kae. Your stuff is... well... your stuff! Remember how

it was when you started out? You had to find everything on your own...

recipes... lists.... and so on.

Do not feel bad about not sharing either.... Revlon doesn't share, do they?

Your a business just like Revlon. I shared several things in the past....

got copied too! I'm tight lipped with a lot of my stuff now. Live and learn.

Point them to some good lists... you can keep your suppliers to yourself.

They can do some google searches to find them.

I wanted to back up what the others have said. Don't

give out recipes, if they have your products & they

are labeled, they have a list of ingredients. Let

them figure out how much of each to use. After all,

you did spend time making your own recipes, right?

Suppliers-I've been asked at shows by newbies who my

suppliers are, give them a big long list & let them

figure out who is the cheapest! Eventually they will

see your packaging or supplies somewhere & know where

you get your stuff from. You had to research to find

the best prices, let them do the same!

Give them lots of email lists to join too. Just like

the other stuff, they'll join them all and then figure

out which ones work for them.

Don't let this stuff get you down. You make awesome

products! There's always going to be competition, you

just have to find a way to deal with it. Keep

remembering that " you " created something that was so

usique & wonderful that someone else wanted to be just

like you! :)

I havent read any one elses reply yet:) BUT i think

shes being very nice about it and why not direct her

to a few recipe sites and supplier links. I have neevr

been one to guard secrets of soap. She seems happy,

like soap and such are making her happy. She is

praising you too, arent these all good things? Not to

be worried over? Its great to help others and she

looks up to your abilities i see:) I think its good. I

can show you some great web sites , that were old

freinds who didnt even know what M & P was and now they

rival me some would say. BUT no two soapers are alike,

no matter how hard you try she will make soap anyway.

At least this way she respects you right:) Its a great

feeling to help others be happy i think, not much left

these days ya know! I hope i ddint over step anything

her ok? I just always found it weird how you ask a

crafter do you have a good say mica link, and they run

away and never talk to you again, lol. Even if you

dont want to share, you can give her other more

general links that are pretty easy to find:) PLUS she

will thank you and you wont get an ulcer, he he he!

Thats only my 2 scents, but i HTH~ EM
