I Have a Netbook and still want an iPad - for me the main reason is that it is easier to get wireless connectivity with the iPad (although it is possible to get it with the Netbook as well) and for my purposes it will be easier to hand an iPad over to an audience member and ask them to take a look at my website than it would be to hand over my Netbook.Oh, and before I got my youngest son a Nook for Christmas, He used to use my Netbook with the Nook reader software to read books so your Netbook can be an e reader as well!

You should treat yourself, Lea Ann! Comparing a Netbook to an Ipad, is like comparing Vitamix to a Montel Healthmaster, lol. Netbooks are great, don't get me wrong. But, an ipad is a whole different experience.

LOL and everyone who is encouraging me to get an iPad. My husband would hate this advice (he's a penny pincher) and the reason I am holding back is because our washing machine broke and to get the large capacity washer I wanted I had to spend $900. THAT was my iPad money! Hopefully I'll have a few good shows and sell lots of machines in between... ;-) Once the Snow Birds go home my shows in FL stink (sales drop). Wish I could live here, but work in the California region where sales are steady year round...

No worries, Lea Ann-I am pretty sure from its shape that the ipad would make a wonderful washboard, and there is probably an app for that! Return that silly washer, and tell hubby he will still have clean boxers.

I won't say it does it "better", just more seamless. I have a keyboard dock for my ipad, which essentially turns it in to a full laptop. I had an ASUS EEE netbook running linux, and I gave it away recently, since the ipad will do everything it did, and then some. I have a printer app, so I can print from the ipad, type word documents and presentations, easily transfer pictures between the ipad and printer or laptop, etc. It plays music and video beautifully, and I can sync it to my Roku or computer. I haven't found a task that the ipad WON'T do that the netbook WOULD do, and then some. I have a Macbook pro and windows laptop, but I rarely use anything but the ipad any more. I do use my laptop for most emails, only because it is handy to keep in my kitchen, where I usually spend most of my day, and I can respond to

groups and emails from my stool while carrying on with my kitchen stuff. A netbook is great, so is an ipad. Boils down to personal choice and what you intend to use it for. I make my living from home, and good computer equipment is essential. I have to say the ipad made it much easier, for my needs. From: flnancy1958 <pravern@...>Subject: OT Advantages/Disadvantages of a Netbook versus iPad Date: Sunday, January 9, 2011, 8:15 AM

I am certain the next one will have a camera, and at that point, my current one will get passed down to my daughter, and Santa will be visiting me for Christmas in July! By the way, the newest version of the ipod touch is FLAWLESS in it's design and features, and has a front and rear facing camera! If the new ipad is as perfect as the touch, it will be truly amazing. I am just about to set up my ipod touch to do a time lapsed photo session of the big snowstorm that is headed my way! Should be fun. I just started playing with time lapse recently, so I am still bumbling, lol.

My son got the touch for Christmas. Santa was in I mode this year. I don't know how to do time lapse. I know one of the girls at homeschool group was taking black and white and all kind of pics. Is that an app or included??On Jan 9, 2011, at 2:19 PM, Berry <berrywell@...> wrote:

Yeah, I'm glad I didn't buy the last generation of Touch--it's my M.O. to wait several generations before buying new technology anyway. However, in the interest of accuracy, this practice sometimes backfires, e.g., the most recent run of iPhones and their antenna problems. I'd buy a Touch before an iPad--I don't actually need either one but I need an iPad less and am not tempted at this point. I like that you can buy the touch (and the iPad, I think?) with optional 3G capability that you don't actually have to use.

I am the opposite, when it comes to gadgets. I am like a two year old-WANT IT NOW!!!!! The good part of that, is my daughter is always happy to get my hand me downs when the newer model comes out. I was impressed enough with the newest ipod touch though, to go ahead and buy her her own one. I would LOVE to see schools incorporate ipod touch as opposed to making kids lug an 80 pound back pack around all day! I am lucky that my business easily justifies me being able to write off "business tools". Like kitchen gadgets, you can never have too many...

Would be about the same as getting a Montel Healthmaster, as opposed to a Vitamix. :)

There are some great photography apps that do the time lapse. I am playing with one called zcam right now-so far, pretty seamless. Our big snowstorm is moving in tonight-I hope to take a pic every minute throughout the night.

I can think of one... The Netbook will play Flash and the iPad won't...

There is a way around that too! I can play flash on the ipad using logmein ignition, lol. Not much you can't overcome if you are determined. From: flnancy1958 <pravern@...>Subject: OT Advantages/Disadvantages of a Netbook versus iPad Date: Sunday, January 9, 2011, 8:15 AM
