Hi everyone,

My 18 year old son has the ICD, but I am concerned...the Dr. put him

on BP medication (Enalapril) as he wants to keep his blood pressure at

or just below 100 for the top number. He is also on a beta blocker

(Atenolol)to keep his heart rate lower. I am wondering if at the age

of 18, a BP of 100/50 is too low for him? He seems to wake up at

night with his heart pounding (it is when his ICD starts to pace), he

does have bradycardia at night...I was just wondering if they may be

keeping his vitals too low? He has a heart defect as well. I have

asked his Dr. but he says they need to do this so that his heart does

not work so hard. I fear that if his heart rate drops too low, and he

has low BP that his heart might not recover if it slows too

much...maybe I am being overly concerned?
