Guest guest Posted November 4, 2004 Report Share Posted November 4, 2004 Hi ! Yoga Shakti is Shiva Rea's newest yoga DVD - it is AWESOME -- it is hatha/ashtanga style yoga. The DVD has 4 pre-mixed routines - Basic Flow, 2 more advanced solar " flows " and a lunar flow. I've only done the Basic Flow so far and that is pretty much traditional sun salutations/standing poses - it runs 40 minutes or so. The more advanced solar flows include sun salutations, standing poses, inversions, and backbends. Those are each around 90 min long. The lunar flow sounds great, I haven't tried it yet, but the description indicates that it would be a relaxing/restorative session. Maybe one of these evenings I'll get to it. The nice part about this DVD is that not only does it include these 4 'pre-mixed' practices, it also contains something like the " workout blender " on Cathe's DVDs which allow you to design your own practice by selecting different sections (Sort of like Eoinn's Power Yoga For Happiness, but whereas his is all pre-mixed, the Shiva DVD allows you to program your sessions yourself) I haven't devoted as much time as I would like to playing with this DVD and creating my own practices, but it is nice to have that resource. I may have mentioned Shiva Rea before - I have a few of her yoga workouts on CD (yoga sanctuary and yoga chant - both are great - I picked mine up from the Amazon marketplace sellers...) and they are very good as well. She is definately one of my favorite instructors, she is up there with Kest and Eoinn Finn for me!! HTH!
