new Vitamix

My Personal Assistant has a birthday coming up. She has been nagging her husband

for a Vitamix since I got mine a few months ago. He said he had just bought her

an iPad so the VM was not in her immediate future. So, I'm getting her one, a

5200 like mine. She wants a black one. When I got mine I got the white and have

been unhappy because it has black control knobs & switches. If I had it to do

over I would get the all black. She is so happy and can't want to have her own.

I suggested that she ask her husband for the grinding container since I'm

getting her the machine. I don't have that and I don't think I'd use it. Do many

of you use the grinding vessel?

Hi Sherry…Are you being careful with the speeds you are using? It would seem that if you stated on low and gradually speeded up it would not do that. Then on high.When I forget to make sure my buttons are all off to start with I have some interesting patterns on my cabinet doors!So don't give up. I don't know. I did start out on low and went up. I even went back and tried

with just water to see what I was doing wrong. I love the machine in general.

I'm just not sure what is going on with perhaps the smaller continer.

Hi, I'm new with the Vitamix with the 48 oz. container as well. I have noticed that you have to be careful not to tilt the cover backward. It will fit that way, but will leak if you do. I haven't had any leaking problems, but watch the lid when I put it on. Also, as others have stated, putting contents above the full line will cause problems. Hope you can resolve your issues, I'm learning that there is a bit of a learning curve. Hang in there. Hi Sherry,I have the 64oz container and have not had this problem. Love the Vitamix - it's a dream to use - quick processing and easy clean up. In one clean up I added too much water and the sudsy water came out of the spout. Possibly you had too many ingredients in the container.Jan From: Sherry
