Dear Group, Ok, so I have been doing everything this guy tells me for over six months. Discontinuing my meds as he order, changing medication from one to another. I have asked him a million questions and his reply is not to worry he has to know all about heart, stomach, and blood pressure problems because they all relate to your pulmonary system. I finally ended up in the hospital for the 3 time in a month with a blood pressure 40/20 WOW did the Er team move I was in intensive care before you could count to ten. There when I could find the energy to talk I kept asking about CHF as I was gurgling and coughing and bring up junk, swollen and whatever. Dr. White kept say here is another inhaler try this along with breathing treatments.

It was decided that it was all because of new condition they found called Acalasisia, along with my Gerd and my reflux. Then the idiot took me off all my heart meds and I had a fit. He told me I was no longer to take any of them as they were giving me Asmatha. I ask for my cardiologist ASAP. Dr. Gordon said what is he doing. I let t hem work it out. I was to weak to care. So it was decided to dry me out no pills as they took 22 out of my esophagus when they dilated. So I was given all IV fluids and all meds in that way one way or another. I kept getting fatter and fatter. I was told it was because I was so dehydrate and had lost so much weight so fast but I was miserable. My stomach hurt, my blood pressure kept jumping up and down nothing worked write. Then they finally found out I had to much Hepburn (sp) in my system and could take no more. Brilliant man thought that was reason for cough so he up my steroids. The one of my counts bottomed out and the said cut the steroids as I had put something to sleep.

Since I have been home I have had to have 4 special test. By the way Mr. Brilliant released me from the hospital without the approval of my cardiologist or other doctors and on no medication except antibiotic, sotolo, and singular. I was on 9 different meds at time I was admitted. When I went to Internist the other day he says why did you stop taking all your meds. I said Dr. White said I didn't need them. His face fell and he told me to add my prozac back which has taken care of my headaches and nightmares. My hdrocholizide back start with only 1 dose a day. This morning right before I got on the net Doctor called to let me know my blood test results and order me back on the meds that Turk just mentioned within a half hour instant relief. I can even get up by myself. Of course my home in now a national flood disaster. I called Dr. White was, well, I thought we would work on adding things back over the next 6 months in the meantime keep taking your 6 inhalers. You been a very sick puppy and you really gave me a scare, you bottomed out pretty bad. Oh by the way didi I tell you that your anemic we need to decide how to handle that what do you think. YOUR FIRED I RELIED.

My skin is now purple and yellow my eyes are yellow but I think I just peed away at least 10 quarts of fluid. So Dave you better catch up.

Oh my goodness Sharon,

If you don't have enough health problems, you end up with a knuckle headed doctor !

Well I am glad that you fired his worthless sorry ass !!! (Pardon the French)

This idiot could have killed you....

That is why I always say everyone needs an advocate who knows your health history while your sick to put there foot down and demand to be heard when things are out of control like they were for you in the hospital.

I get blood clots in my lungs every so often and on 3 occasions while at the ER, just 5 or 10 minutes after telling them I also have an ICD, three different Doctors have scheduled me for an MRI. And as everyone who has an ICD should know, that test can not be done on us. Once they had me wheeled into the room to do the MRI and I said "Hold everything here, I can't have this test done because I have an ICD implanted!"

Well, I hope that now your on your meds again that you will continue to feel better and heal in short order.

Hang in there hon and as always my thoughts and prayers go out to you,

Dave in Maine

Yeow! Sharon, you've been to hell and back. Dr. White needed to be

fired.

Egads! These specialists work in a vacuum. Stick closer to your

cardiologist

and internist. They know more of your history and treatments. So sorry

to

read about your awful experiences. Prayers for your recovery.

Well, dear Sharon, we will just keep praying for you to be as healthy as possible.

I have never actually met you, but I do read all the posts, I just need to take in this information, because my hubby sure won't read...!

I could almost just picture you in the CCU, (or icu) when you were so sick. My hubby was in that unit last May, and I was in that room most of the time with him, (even though I wasn't supposed to be) that was when he got his defib.

So, just know that you have people out here who are the silent readers, but we are not silent in our thoughts and prayers. take care, and it is so good to see your posts getting longer, and they even sound stronger! audi

Sharon,

I hope you get this all straightened out and start feeling better

soon.

I also wanted to say, that this is something I need reminded of

frequently. DRINK A LOT OF WATER WITH YOUR PILLS. I don't know if

that's what caused your specific attack, but it is a possible cause

of this problem. I tend to pop all 15 of mine in my mouth at once so

I have to follow them with a good 12 ounces of water. Bad habit, I

know, but at least I try to remember the water now.

I havea friend who build MRIs. I asked him what would happen if they

put us in one. He thinks it would twist our units around and break

the leads. He doesn't think the force would be enough to pull it

through the skin though. Still, I really don't want to know for

Achlasisa prevents me from drink much of anything at any one time. I throw liquids as well as food right up. Often I throw up all the medication right back up. I know try taking one pill with some sort of liquid and wait for about 1/2 hour. Then another and so forth. Trouble is they stay lodge in esophagus as there is not enough off an open to get them down into the stomach. Do you or anyone in the group know anyone with Achlasisa, I am told that Achlasisa is very rare. There is no cure for it.

The basic treatment is basic dilation of the espogial structure with a balloon, that they keep trying to expand. The newest treatment that is currently available id dialation which includes injections directly into the esophagus of a mixture if the stuff that causes botolisism and botox which will hopefully paralyze the stictures from closing. They need to open a few at a time. There is no permanent cure and the older you get the worse it gets.

I am 5'2" i use to weigh lets say close to 240lbs over the last years and half I was hover between 180 to 177 which I was very proud of this last time in 3 weeks I went from that to 152. Needless to say the affect that itself had on my body not to mention all the other problems.

If anyone has any advise I would welcome it.

Thanks to all

Hi Sharon,

My mom had the beginnings of drug induced Achlasisa. Fortunately

they caught it pretty quickly and the balloon treatment worked. She

still has to take anti-acid pills, Prilosec I think. And she still

has to take sulfasolazine for the colon inflamation caused by the

same drug.

When was sick and her weight was dropping like a stone last

year, we threw all concepts of healthy food out the window and

anything that stayed in her was considered good. She drank a lot of

coke to keep her stomach settled. I'm convinced her 50 lb weight

drop (153 to 103) in 6 months would have been 70 or 80lbs if she

hadn't been drinking so many calories. If you find something that

helps you, stick with it even if it isn't considered healthy.

I have heard good things about the botox treatment. I hope it works

for you.

If there is metal in it, it could be harmful to the patient. I can't

imaging that the ICD or pacemaker has so little metal in it that it

wouldn't move.

Okay, I went and did some quick research. Biophan Technologies is

working on an MRI compatible pacemaker that uses fiber-optic

technology.

And a second group is using very low power MRIs with the current

pacers.

But a standard MRI and a standard Pacemaker or ICD, is still a big NO.

Bridget

ps - there is a reason why you can't have any metal in a room with an

MRI. My friend told me about a case where a little boy was having an

MRI and he needed O2. Some idiot of a tech, wheeled a O2 tank into

the room while the MRI was running. The MRI pulled the tank into the

unit on top of the kid. He didn't survive.

Dear Bridget, Thank you so much. You really made my day. This has been going on for over the last 4 years. I have been prolesic, prevacid. My newest drug is protonix and raglan. I take protonix twice a day 40 mg each and I take thraglan 1/2 hr before meals and beofre bed. They had Don raise my Bed 4" of the floor at the head.

As far as eating anything. Since I have lost all the weight I do the same. Problem being that which taste good when I can tast, rarely stays down long or at all. I have very few taste bud left. My tounge and Throat are very burned from the acid reflux and gerd. I have forgotten what good taste like.

Sometimes I eat the weirest things and they stay down or at least saty dow for a w hile. I think that sometimes your body knows what it can h andle.

Right now I am enjoying some Ben & Jerrt's ice cream that I received as an RX from Sue. This is the best.

I did a web search, and that story about the boy and the Oxygen tank is

really true. Awful. Watch out for dummies in the hospital eh...

Pretty grisly reading. Not for the faint. So anyone who really wants to look

at it can search for yourself, I won't post it. My prayers for us all that

were in good hands when we need care.

me a pint of B & Js and I discovered that it is too rich for me. I

used to love the stuff, but something has changed and I can only eat

about a spoonful at a time. They think i don't like it because I

haven't eaten it, but the truth is I love it, it just upsets my

stomach!!!

Oh and mom has risers for her bed too, except I think she went 6 " at

the head. She has chunks of 4 x 4 with a routed out spot to hold the

wheels still, that way we can move them from bed to bed easily (she

sleeps in one room in the summer and a different one in the winter).

Hope you feel much better soon.

I almost didn't mention it because it is truly gruesome.
