Guest guest Posted April 13, 2004 Report Share Posted April 13, 2004 I have been reading about Sharon being in the hospital. If I remember correctly, she suffered from multiple shocks not long ago. I was shocked 12 times last August and spent the next 3 months getting well. I had awful bruising on my chest after the shocks. They replaced the ICD and had to go back in after a month because the wound would not stop bleeding. I eventually developed a terrible infection that resulted in them having to put in another new ICD on the other side. (my insurance company is not very happy about paying for two ICDs back to back). Hearing about Sharon's problems makes me wonder if this kind of shock ( unit malfunction) does more damage than I have been told. Everyone I asked said that there should be no damage to my heart from the shocks. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience.
