Guest guest
Hi! In spite of having a rough night last night w/ DD I did manage to get up and do Olajide, Jr.'s Killer Abs & Back. I was both relieved and disappointed that there weren't more jump rope segments - I was expecting more as in Kathy 's Aerobox workout. Overall I'd say it is a moderate cardio workout - the last jump rope section gets tough, but it is not overly long so it is do-able. For the aero/tone portion you mostly do boxing moves, torso twists, some knee " kicks " (knee lifts I guess would be the appropriate term) and jump rope moves (which I did just fine w/out a jump rope). For one section (the knee lifts) you'll need a body bar or other type of bar or chair for balance (or you could probably just test your balance and try it w/out!) and one of the background exercisers use light weights ('s appear to be around 3-5lbs and the background exerciser appears to be using 1s or 2s) for some of the torso twists (I didn't - felt weird to me). He also does punching moves to work the torso as well as the lower body (which is to remain still - and therefore isometrically challenges the muscles) and upper body. Some of the punches are done at a rapid pace -- if you have Kathy 's Aerobox it is fairly similar. The ab work on the floor mixed traditional moves w/ some new twists - such as " teaser " type moves from Pilates. The workout is about 40-50 min. There are two female background exercisers, who IMHO, don't always show the best form (for instance, cues you to hold your lower body steady, but one of the background exercisers is obviously twisting!) The music is decent - good beat for this type of workout. seems very sweet and motivational. I would have liked more cardio, but I can always add on some of the Aerobox sections next time or maybe some Tae Bo. The DVD is chaptered well and contains a 10 min " bonus " buns workout led by a different instructor (forget her name - Dolores something or other). It contained basically standard " butt " work like donkey kicks, " hydrants " , etc. I also did the 10 min " bonus " yoga workout on Petra's Trainer's Edge DVD and that made a nice cooldown. Overall, I would do this w/out again -- but depending on what else was going on in my rotation I might add more cardio next time. Take care! Guest guest
Hi , It wasn't easy, but I didn't find it terribly hard either (maybe it was the sleep deprivation -- yes, DD+ Dear Daughter!) I'll see if I'm sore tomorrow! :> Are you finished w/ your project? Donna >Great review! Thanks!
