WOW! You won't believe this!!!

I just got back from a Vitamix Regional Sales meeting where they unveiled the New STAINLESS STEEL 5200 machine!!!

It will replace the Platinum (which looks like a silver colored plastic) and will cost the same retail price of $499. (I am guessing that it will still be called the Platinum, but I am not sure on that).

This new shell is NOT real stainless (I asked the National Sales Manager why we don't make REAL stainless steel and he said that it has something to do with affecting the performance of the motor - magnetism effect I think???). However you REALLY have to tap on it to tell that it is not real stainless (and even then it is difficult to tell it from real stainless). It Looks JUST like brushed stainless steel!!! It is BEAUTIFUL!

As of right now they are not ready for full production. Vitamix does everything to the highest standard and they are still working on some production issues to make it Just Right for the release. The one at our meeting was one of only 3 that have been made so far.

And now the most amazing part! There were I'm guessing 40-50 sales reps at this meeting and they told us at the beginning of the meeting that one of us would be going home with it - there would be a drawing of names at the end of the day. GUESS WHO WON IT???

Thanks guys - I took home the 5000 model I demonstrated during my 10-day training. Two months later they came out with the 5200 and I've been demonstrating the 5200, and coming home to a 5000 ever since. Seriously they perform pretty much the same. I brought home one of the new containers and you really can't tell the difference between the two machines if you switch out the container. There are differences between the motors, but none such that would affect performance.

So anyway, when I saw (and was drooling over) the new stainless steel model I mentioned that I am so happy that I hadn't "upgraded" to a 5200 before the new stainless model came out so that I would have the option of getting a stainless steel model if I ever did decide to "upgrade". Well, I have to say that I am still pinching myself :-)

Also, wanted to say that I did demonstrate the platinum when I was at the Whole Foods in Atlanta - it will end up as an exclusive color I think because it will be replaced by the new stainless steel and there will be VERY few Platinums out in circulation, so over time I think they will become a rare, very exclusive color. That being said, I did not covet the Platinum upon seeing it like I did the new Stainless Steel. If I had a Platinum I wouldn't switch to a Stainless - it is still a nice color that goes well with stainless steel appliances, but I have to say that the new Stainless ROCKS!

Oh and a report on the meeting - there are a lot of things I can't say due to confidentiality, but I just want to let you guys know that Vitamix is THE MOST AMAZING company. They LIVE out their corporate values every single day in every way possible. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this company in every way!

MISSION: We develop and produce the world's best-performing and most reliable blending equipment and create enduring relationships for life.

Vitamix MEANS and IMPLEMENTS to the best of their ability EVERY word of that Mission Statement!

We have a new booth (will probably roll out within 6 months) that you won't believe when you see it!!! It is AMAZING!!!

Our commercial division secured a contract with the World's Leading Coffee comany (which must remain un-named due to confidentiality issues ;-)

The fast food chain under the Golden Arches (confidentiality remember? :-) is adding smoothies to the menu and guess which blending company they are buying their machines from?

It was suggested that we visit http://www.StarChefs.com to read the discussion boards and see what the worlds "Star Chefs" are saying about the Vitamix.

I picked up a lot of great lines from my fellow (AWESOME) demonstrators. Thought I'd close with one... "We put the "oooooo" in Smoothie"

Lea Ann, other than my pure delight in your acquisition, what makes me

happiest about your post is that it confirms everything I've known and

loved about this company and its equipment for the 22 years I've had

the pleasure of owning their machines. Truly, Vita-Mix is the poster

child for good business done the American way and I'm THRILLED that

they and my other favorite appliance manufacturer (Norwalk) are

experiencing a boom based on excellence, especially in this economy.

Very encouraging in these troubled times.

No it is a 5200 machine - it just has a shell that you can't tell by looking isn't real stainless steel.

They won't tell us what is in the works for the next residential model upgrade but if I were a betting woman, I'd say they will make a version of the pro 500 for the home market. It is the best of both worlds - for those who MUST have pre-set buttons it has 3, but it also has a fully variable dial.

http://www.vitamix.com/professionalseries/pro500/default.asp

They will never get rid of the variable dial. That is what makes the Vitamix so amazingly functional.

I HATE the whole preset thing because a) you can achieve the same

results without it, B) electronics tend to crap out, and c) it seems too

much like a response to Blendtec and acknowledgment that " hmm...they

might be on to something " when in fact their machines aren't as good on

any level. I suppose it's useful for those who want to walk away from

their machines and know that they'll turn themselves off.

To be fair, I think the commercial drink machines have long had presets

but bartenders and other food service workers are required to do a lot

of things at once, plus those machines carry a much shorter warranty

(IOW, burned-out electronics are to be expected). I'm for upgrades that

offer a boost in performance but presets with the identical motor? Nah.

WOW! You won't believe this!!!

I just got back from a Vitamix Regional Sales meeting where they

unveiled the New STAINLESS STEEL 5200 machine!!!

It will replace the Platinum (which looks like a silver colored

plastic) and will cost the same retail price of $499.  (I am guessing

that it will still be called the Platinum, but I am not sure on that).

This new shell is NOT real stainless (I asked the National Sales

Manager why we don't make REAL stainless steel and he said that it has

something to do with affecting the performance of the motor -

magnetism

effect I think???).  However you REALLY have to tap on it to tell that

it is not real stainless (and even then it is difficult to tell it

from

real stainless).  It Looks JUST like brushed stainless steel!!!  It is

BEAUTIFUL!

As of right now they are not ready for full production.  Vitamix does

everything to the highest standard and they are still working on some

production issues to make it Just Right for the release.  The one at

our meeting was one of only 3 that have been made so far.

And now the most amazing part!  There were I'm guessing 40-50 sales

reps at this meeting and they told us at the beginning of the meeting

that one of us would be going home with it - there would be a drawing

of names at the end of the day.  GUESS WHO WON IT???

Congratulations on the win, Lea Ann - good things happen to nice people. Now as you are making your soup for lunch you can make the delicious dark cherry ice cream using the recipe that was sent to the list.

I bought dark cherries for JUST such a time - sadly they were eaten by OTHERS in my household who will remain un-named while I was away at my meeting. Will shop again...

:-)

And thanks again for the congrats.

You are TOO FUNNY Tony!

Does this list know about the cow poop soup or did I just mention that on FB???

The low down on that (if I haven't already said it here) is that I served a DELICIOUS Tortilla soup to my family and my youngest proclaimed, "this tastes like cow poop soup". He used to be my favorite child...
