Greetings....

Please excuse a second dispatch in one week, but there was some

BREAKING NEWS today which might have a profound impact on any of us with

arrhythmia problems.

PROPULSID, a popular medication for heart burn is off the

market... after patient records linked it to the deaths of at least 80

people... and several hundred more who required treatment for faulty

heart beats.

Details are available from several sources on our NEWS PAGE,

accessible via the newsletter at http://www.duff.net/zapper. I don't

want to frighten anyone, however, if you are currently taking this

medication... call your doctor after looking over the news reports.

Personally, I would NOT wait until a " decent " hour, as any cardiac

patient with a prescription for Propulsid should have already been

called by a doctor or pharmacist.

Making the call will let you sleep better this weekend, if

nothing else.

Another neat story in the news today looks at the chilling

effect of FDA approval of new medical devices because of the quality

control issues raised by a year long string of notices about possible

defects. There is a companion article (side bar) by the (Minneapolis)

Pioneer Press, listing all the various units involved in those reports

in the past twelve months.

Finally a reminder: We start a THIRD weekly Zap•Chat tomorrow

at 1PM EST. While our test of the Voice*Chat program went well

Thursday... We found people on WebTV, those using Macs, or anyone

without audio capabilities would be left out. So.... we will continue

to use the old Text based Zap•Chat program... accessible via

http://www.duff.net/zapper/chat/freechat. Those who are able to use the

(free) HearMe voiceCONTACT program available at

http://www.hearme.com/products/voicecontact/download/ are encouraged to

open a second window (after logging into the old chat site) and go to

http://www.duff.net/zapper/chat.htm where you can talk with others on

line. Many of us found switching between the windows very easy... and

had a real treat finally hearing what many of our " Electric Kangaroo

Colleagues " sound like!

Join us if you can....

Stay well everyone!

Duffey
