Dear Kathy H.,

Thanks for your response. Yes, we are now down to a very low dose of Luvox and are probably going to just work with that. Annie is now able to deal MUCH MUCH better with her OCD than she could two years ago, so I think this may work. We have a great therapist who is very, very good with CBT, and a good psychiatrist as well - amazingly, in Reno. So next week we go back to the psychiatrist to say, yes, it was the Luvox making her psychotic and what do you suggest now? We may go on trying other SSRIs (this is number 2) or maybe just see if we can squeak by like this. School may be hard on such a low dose, but it would have been impossible the way she has been these last three months!!

Take care

Thanks Donna! So far, no one has attacked me. I wrote that 5 minutes before I

had to go to work and all night at work I was thinking why didn't I just lurk

like usual. Well, anyway, I didn't say anything that wasn't true.

Thanks again,

Hi Anne,

A big welcome to our group and congratulations on the birth of . She is beautiful! We have several other moms in our group who have two children with Down Syndrome. I am sure you will be hearing from them, soon!

I am Marcia and have twins, Sara and . Sara has Down Syndrome, does not and they are six. Lucas is our other son, who is 10. I so enjoy my little girl, Sara. She brings us much joy and is such a girl, in terms of loving and nurturing her dolls, loving to have her fingernails painted, enjoys her ballet lessons, and she never ceases to surprise us with what she will dress-up in, the silkier and softer, the better. Her brothers bring a rough and tumble balance to her life and have been a huge inspiration for her, pulling her along and motivating her in all areas.

I look forward to hearing more about you and your family. Thank you so much for sharing the photos. To view a photo of our family, go to:

Hi Anne and a warm welcome to the group.

We too have 4 children and our youngest 2 have Down syndrome. on is

9, is 8, Emma is 5 1/2 and Nicki is 4 1/2. We decided not to have

an amnio with the girls and were most surprised when we discovered Nicki

also has Ds. I had the triple screen blood test when preg with Emma but the

risk of Ds was so low. Plus I almost had Placenta Previa so had MANY

ultrasounds to check on that condition and they always did the measurements

of the baby - nothing was ever picked up.

Emma and Nicki are such great friends and company for each other. My DH and

I were watching them last night and thought how wonderfully things have

worked out. They sure are inseparable. I am a firm believer that things

always happen for a reason. on and think they girls are

amazing and take delight in every achievement.

Welcome again and look forward to hearing more about your family.

--- Dear Sara,

was 8 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long when she was born.

She is absolutely adorable. I am originally from Rochester NY. I

lived there until my husband and I moved to Phoenix. We were there

twelve years and now we have lived in Nebraska for two years. My

husband (then fiance) went to SUNY Geneseo for college. We graduated

many many years ago (1985). Thanks for the welcome! UB is a great

school. I had three friends graduate from there.

..Hi I also have two children with DS (6 Years) and (4

Years). It is hard dealing with it happening twice. What should have

been joyful events were clouded by fear, anxiety and shock. All of which

including emergency trips down to the neonatal unit at Sick Kids 'in

Toronto(both my kids were very ill) made it very difficult to bond with

them. My thoughts are with you. Today my children are the best of

friends and have a very special bond(and communication system!)I love

them dearly and I am so glad that they are in my life although we have

our challenges for sure!

Take one day at a time.

After your second child was born with DS, did you ever get testing to

see if you are a carrier. I haven't because I always thought (I

think incorrectly) that if the children have Trisomy 21 than

Translocation wasn't an issue. Does anyone know about that? My

husband and I have been wondering if we should have gotten tested

after the first child. I am very thankful both of mine have been

healthy, and I truly feel very deeply for all those families that

have to go through those deep struggles for health.

It is so great to find so many families with more than one child with

DS. I really feel so lonely about this. I know there are people out

there who feel sorry for us, and that is the last thing I want people

to feel.

Well, one day at a time and not dwell on the future! That is truly

what I need to focus on!

Hi Anne, Welcome to the group. We also have 4 kids. Amy is 13, Kelsey is 11. We also have 19 month old twins, Davey and Will. Davey has DS. We found out about Davey before he was born. During one of our routine twin ultrasounds, they found fluid in Davey's chest cavity. Luckily all is well and everyone is healthy. I truly believe god doesn't give us what we can't handle. Although I am usually pretty quiet on this list, I really enjoy hearing about everyone's families. Hi Hi,we have 4 children. No. You are ill, not a failure. Nobody could live a normal functional life

if they had illnesses and disabilities like yours to contend with. You must

be strong if you have survived this long with pain and illness like you

describe. It is not your fault that your illness prevents you from doing

things that healthy people can do. That does not make you a failure.

Take care,

CZ

Krissy, good for you for listening to your body. There is nothing wrong

with taking a break. Too keep motivated, you might try doing some cross

training, e.g., take a long, fast walk, work out at a gym, ... . You also

might need some more taebo tapes. There are tons of them! Congratulations

on improving your eating. You are doing terrific! Just take it one day at

a time.
