Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 OK Jen! I have my little notebook ready to record my weight and measurements in tomorrow morning. It will be hard to not weigh myself for so long, but I'm going to try. Deanne SierraStyles <sierrastyles@...> wrote: Hi Deanne I think that is great idea. Why don't we all weigh ourselves first thing in the morning and then again on June 26th or 90 days later, and have a friendly little challenge. Some people will lose alot and other only a few. A lose is a lose in my book. As long as it isn't a muscle lose so we need to protect our well earned muscle. Might as well do the other measurements too. We don't even " have " to share the actual results but it will give us something to strive for. Let's do it people! Jen --------------------------------- Messenger with Voice. Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Hi Deanne, May I make a suggestion to you? I suggest that you make sure you don't identify too strongly with the number you see when you step on your scale. It is NOT you. It has NOTHING to do with you. Please do not become obsessive about your scale and tape measure and the numbers that you see on them. If you want to become obsessive about something, then become obsessive about doing your LL breathing each day as often as you can and with as much dedication as you can muster. LL breathing will help you lose weight and maintain a healthy weight!! The numbers you see on your scale when you step on it and the tape measure when you measure yourself will not do that!!! The only thing that those numbers will do is to turn you into a nervous wreck!!! This is why I dislike weighing myself and measuring myself? So, again, if you want to be obsessive, then be obsessive about your LL breathing, which will do wonders for you in the long run!!!! And please everyone, take the above advice, too. It is not just for Deanne!!! It is for ALL of you!!!!! Love always, Pat Deanne Clemens wrote: > OK Jen! Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Deanne Oh my, I didn't mean not to weigh yourself for 3 months. I always weigh myself. It's part of my daily routine, like brushing my teeth or ya know, breathing, LOL, sheeesh It's just the recording of the weighs and measures is the challenge part. My goodness that is way too much of a challenge not to get on the scale. It is what helps me know where I am. Since I am not on a " diet " per se. 3 months is a great amount of time to strive for. In three months we will be so much stronger and firmer. We can make our own goals and try to beat them. It's all so personal. my goals will take more than 3 months. But that is fantasic amount of time to see a significant change. like a short term goal for me. Goals can be anything. A goal can be walking up a steep hill without stopping, for instance. or doing an exercise that was impossible before. There are lots of things I want to do that to at this time, I can't. In 3 months though, maybe I can, I bet you have great goals too. mine are simple goals. Monday I weigh and measure to make a record. This is good for me to have something to stive for. Take care Jen Quote
Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Hi Pat..I don't obsess about what the scale says (obviously! lol) I don't care what I weigh, as long as I feel good and am healthy and can do things easier than when heavier. I just want to keep track just to know. Something to refer to on paper. Because if I see something on paper, I believe it. I don't see myself in the mirror as I probly look. When I was wearing size 8s and 10s, I weighed enough to be wearing 16s maybe. It's peculiar how different bodies carry poundage. One time I had gained about 10# and my friend insisted I had lost at least 20..somehow things rearranged on my body. Thanks for the pep talk!! It'll keep me going! oh I was telling dh about life lifts, and he said this is how you are sposed to breathe when exercising...and demo'ed it. I said my gosh, are you back in our old lamaze classes from the 70s? Dee Pat Lusher <patlusher@...> wrote: Hi Deanne, May I make a suggestion to you? Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Hmmm - I weigh myself every morning. I then log my weight and graph it. If it bumps up a couple of pounds, I immediately take measures to correct it. I am NOT a nervous wreck, but what I am is slender (size 6) and in fairly good shape! I also regularly do my LifeLift (40plus each day, with exercises). Recently I added some exercises specific to lower back pain/sciatic problems - I can now sleep through the night without my hip starting to ache! I also walk several miles a day, plus the " normal " movement of just living. I don't considered myself obsessed - I am a list-make, methodical, and organized - traits that I apply to daily living and marriage, as well as work - and it works for me. I think my point is, each of us is different - what is an obsession to one is not the same thing to another - and we each have to find the path that works for us.... Some people can and do weigh each and every day, others find it necessary to avoid the scale like the plague - and yet others simply are indifferent to their weight... Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Bonnie, You and I would get along famously. I'm a listmaker also. I don't graph my body weight etc., but I do measure weekly and graph that. As for my weight I'm trying not to weigh daily because my weight flucuates so much sometimes within hours. I'm not slender, but I am the fittest I have been in a very long time. I also do things like put rubber bands on my water bottle. I take one off every time I finish a bottle. Once they are all gone then I know I've had the necessary amount of water I need daily. It also means I can enjoy iced tea, juice, coffee or the occasional diet soda when I feel like it, knowing I've met my water consumption for the day. Of all the things I keep track of that water bottle is me. I know how my body responds to the lack of water and I know that if I don't have the necessary 100 ounces each day I will suffer the next day for it. Like your knowing that if your weight flucuates a few pounds to handle it, I know that my bloated stomach, dry mouth and lips etc. are telling me to handle my water and my salt. love, Jenni Re: New challenge ----- Hmmm - I weigh myself every morning. Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Hi Bonnie, I agree with you about everything you said, and I am so glad that you are not a nervous wreck. You are doing a wonderful job, and I am proud of you!!! Go girl!! You see, I was a mental health counselor for my local mental health agency here in Vermont for 8 years. I just retired from that job (a volunteer job which paid a stipend) at the end of 2005 because of burnout. I dealt with so many bullemics and so many anorexics that it is not funny!!! That is where I get my obsession about being obsessed about weight from. So, I hope that now you understand better where I am coming from, in fact, I hope that you all understand where I am coming from now that you have all read my words. I still think that the very best obsession to have is an obsession to Life LIft breathing itself!!! That is a wonderful obsession. If you only knew how thankful I am that I found Rashelle's web site and started her Life Lift program!!!! I thank God for Rashelle, as I know all of you do!!! Guest guest Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Bonnie, I admire how you maintain your weight. A lot of friends who maintain their weight their best follow exactly what you do; they weight daily; and if the weight goes up a pound or two then they cut back for 2 days; this works well for all of them. Honestly, I HATE the scale; but when I reach my goal weight I know I will follow as you do to maintain after all my hard work of losing. Thanks for sharing!
