bath bombs

Marcelle,

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to be less vigorous about getting those molds

packed really tight. I also had been a little sparing on the oil, not wanting

to end up with greasy BB's. I might try to add just a touch more and see what

the outcome is. Looks like I'm going to have to

practice...practice...practice! Didn't realize such a simple little item could

be so complicated.

Good question! ;-D

I'd have to narrow it down to your epsoms (haven't made bb's, so I

don't know about citric acid's physical makeup). What type of water

do you have in the house? Hard or soft? We have soft water here,

and I have had some problems with some bath products from other

people dissolving in my water (the granules thing).

Hi

Thanks very much, I'll have to give it a shot next time.

Does anyone use Polysorbate80 or something similar to disperse the oils or

do you find that it isn't necessary? My daughter had a problem with a

urinary tract infection last spring when I first *discovered* bath bombs (so

we used lots of them) and I was wondering if it had something to do with the

coating of oil in the water. I made my first ones with quite a bit more oil

than is usually called for though also as the first recipe I tried called

for it. I like them that way myself in the tub except that they don't hold

up well if they aren't in the fridge.

Thanks,

Janice

Hi Cheri, perhaps you are taking too long in the mixing and molding part of the

process? I have had some batches just not hold together at all, and that was my

problem. I use witch hazel to spray my mixture, and I don't use as much oil as

you do. I use 2-3 tsp. of oil(I don't want an oily tub to clean) and for a

batch the same size as yours, I use about 80 drops of essential oil. Works out

to approx. 8 drops to

a fizzie. Once I figured out that I was taking too long, I haven't had any

problems. Hope that helps.

I don't know Mel, but if not, do you have access to electricity? You can

bring a little Bunsen burner to make hot water. You could bring some in a

bunch of thermoses. You could bring a camp stove. Of course, it is a little

more difficult to pull off the " I am luxury - buy me " theme when your booth

looks like a campsite.

I have been putting 4 bath fizzies (small ones) in a cello bag. and secure

with a small rubber band and tie a peice of raffia with a hang tag on it.

You could do this with one large one too... Or you can shrink wrap them or

wrap in stretch tite.

What are some ways that you wrap your bath bombs. Thanks for any

suggestions.

Hi La Shonda,

I package my bath bombs in gusseted cello bags that have a piece of

corrugated cardboard in them to keep the bag flat and top with a folded

header card. I used to package them in plastic wrap them and put the

ingredients sticker on the back but they seem to hold up better in the cello

bags.

Hi Dee!

I'm pretty sure the fragrance oil Deb used was called " Lovespell " . Someone

can correct me if I'm wrong... You can find several places that carry it on

fragrance finder

http://www.geocities.com/lwoollen_25/FragranceFinder/index.html

Also, she had wrapped them in colored foil, but also had another sample

someone else made that was wrapped in cellophane, I believe.

> Hi, I know Deb Z is still on vacation but can anyone tell me what the

fragrance was she used to make the bath bombs-afraid I missed that. Also,

how do you wrap them. I will never use them all and wanted to put some in a

basket I am making my sister who is moving into a new apartment. Thanks

all.

Sylvia, thanks so much! I see bombs in the stores that are like rock also and I

wonder how they got them that way. Must live in the mountains! I'll try again.

Hello,

We also make bath bombs with different herbs but we siff them after grinding,

especially the Lavender and Rose Petals and we do the same for our Milk Baths as

well. Since doing that we have not had any problems.
