Guest guest
Kathy- >has anyone tried this brand? Yes. Unfortunately it's pasteurized, but it's very tasty. However, since it's pasteurized I stick to Deep Root (biolacto.com) for saurkraut. I do buy Bubbies' pickles, though -- one type appears to be salt-cured (and then pasteurized) and it's exceptionally delicious. -

But, I'm quite certain that it is pasteurized (the little button in the lid is sucked down), and as such, I seriously doubt there are any enzymes intact, let alone the lactobacteria. My only comment is that those little jars only work for half a meal. -- Heidi

Unfortunately, their site makes no mention of mail order, but I emailed them just for in case they do. I'd love to get some fermented pickles that are as tasty as Bubbies' but are also raw. Either way, thanks for the tip! -
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, a late reply here--(couldn't send e-mail out for a while)--they have raw sauerkraut at People's in Portland if that is close enough for you to travel to. i think the brand is rejuvenation? there were a couple of varieties. it was expensive-almost ten dollars for a rather smallish jar. saw it also at natures, being discontinued. sonya Re: Bubbies sauerkraut? <<Yes. Guest guest
I have tried Rejuvenative Sauerkraut from Whole Foods. It is expensive and tastes kind of bland and soggy. I like crisp Sauerkraut. I'm still on the lookout myself. Guest guest
Sonya, How do you get to People's from Vancouver? Would you know? Michele Re: Bubbies sauerkraut? > > > <<Yes. Guest guest
I wrote to Michele off list but thought others, especially those in the area might be interested--Peoples is a great little coop. Their website is www.peoples.coop and they give a map and directions. Another store in the area is www.newseasonsmarket.com I love Peoples for their raw goat's milk and other raw dairy, no raw butter, though. Sonya Re: Bubbies sauerkraut? > > > <<Yes.
