HI everyone,

Thanks for all the summaries! I sure as heck didn't get to see many

talks as I was pretty busy at our booth - am going to get the tapes. I

talked to the volunteer coordinator who said that attendance was over

450! That continues the trend of doubling every year! Sally's seminar

on Monday was packed.

It was great to meet so many people on this list - wonderful to make

virtual community more tangible! Thanks for stopping by and introducing

yourself. You certainly are a radiant bunch!

Ken or - do you have that picture of our Ethiopian dinner troupe

to post?

Anyone else still dreaming of that lamb stew we had on Saturday night??

Cheers,

One more thing -

I was talking with Benner this morning (who wasn't able to

make it this year to the conf. because she is moving) about economics

and how it would be great to bring in that dimension in future

conferences and WAPF work. We talked specifically about Steiner's

Associative Economics and CHBudd, and I brought up Austin

Fitts' work with the Solari economic empowerment centers

(www.solari.com). There is some very important work coming out that I

think can make a huge difference for local economies and food systems in

the Solaris. This married to Assoc. Econ. could be a real powerful

synergy. Would love to hear what people think.

Economics discussions might seem off-topic but I feel that economy is

the morphogenic field for culture and food systems, and trying to change

the American diet without focusing on economic transformation is like

trying to reverse-engineer the car from an old hubcap. Anyway if there

is interest I would love to see this become a part of our discussions

here and more widely in the Foundation.

All the best,

---->hmmm... seems to want one at 300 dpi, not 72 dpi, which is why

it's blurry. I uploaded another one to a " WAPF 2003 Conference " album in the

photos section, but it's blurry too. Ken, if you have the original as a 300

dpi Tiff, I can optimize it, add our names and upload. the original is kind

of dark, so I adjusted the lighting in my image editing program. unless you

have an editing program and would like to do it yourself.

We have a chapter in Greenfield, with Redemske. Contacted her

from

WAPF webpage when I found it about a year ago. She said she was going to put

together a meeting with another local chapter when I last talked to her. That

was about 6 months ago. Sally in Amherst would be great! My kind of travel.

Yep - they audio and video taped the talks. The contact # is: (610) 923

available at some point as well....

I second that. I think a lot of the mis-information about food

is decidedly economy-driven. There is the bias toward " branded "

food at this point -- that if it is " packaged " and has a " name "

it is somehow better and safer. This is even more true

with drugs -- no doctor wants to prescribe anything unless

it is listed in the PDR or involves surgery.

Well, Suze, you say you're not photogenic, but while I think you may be

wrong, I can't say for sure because the picture is so incredibly tiny that

you're all pretty much just little blobs of indistinct, blurry pixels. In

fact, I'm not sure if I'd know any of you on the street! Does allow

for somewhat larger pictures? Could you upload a less-shrunken version?

All kidding (or half kidding) aside, I do appreciate it! It's always nice

to be able to put names to faces. I just wish I could've made it down to

DC myself.

***** I've tried lots of things (I've been sick 10 years), but I'm

honestly too tired to write about them now. I'm going out of town

tomorrow for a week to visit a friend's parents' farm. Should be

restful. :) (Anyway, I'm exhausted from conference, trying to pack,

but wasting time on this board because it's more fun.)

I've still got things in my diet I want to play around with (all w/in

the NT paradigm). I think/know my adrenal glands are messed up and I

haven't done too much research into that yet.

The homeopath/acupuncturist told me I'd be 50% better in 2 months and

he gets that result with 90% of the CFS people he sees. At least

I'll be able to measure that. Ron Schmid said at the conference that

his opinion is that homeopathy might help, but wouldn't be the cure.

Who knows?!

------->I guess it would depend on the skill of the practitioner to some

extent. A mediocre one or an inexperienced one might not be able to " cure "

but a really good one, just might. I think homeopathy is a modality that

probably *can* in many cases get to the root cause of symptoms and be

curative. Not that I've used it much myself, but some of the most

experienced *pet* holistic health folks swear by homeopathy compared to

other modalities for a deep, long-lasting effect. And I've read of some

excellent work being done by a few well-known, skilled veterinary

homeopaths, including one who cures lymes disease, among other things. On

the other hand, some find TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) to be most

effective at addressing the root cause. In any case, I really hope you will

experience that 50% improvement in 2 months - how wonderful that would be!

Hey, have fun at the farm...hope you get to eat lots of farm food :-)
