Guest guest
WOW Alice, sounds great!!! I have a couple questions if you don't mind? What kind of show was it? How big of a booth did you have? How did you make the incense that sold so well? was it the typical take a blank, soak in FO and package? how were they packaged? How much did you sell them for? I ask all this as I have my first show coming up and I am scared to death LOL thanks! Shan Love Candles and Homemade Soaps? Guest guest
Does it really show????? LOL! I literally was bouncy at work today, too!!!!!! LOL!!!!! My co-workers were all coming up and speaking to me and telling me that I seemed awfully chipper! LOL! Then again, I had a bunch of them come up to me giving me grief about seeing me in a skirt!!!!!! THAT is taboo, you do NOT see me in skirts very often at all!!!!! LOL! SO, they really gave it to me about that today, lmao! Thanks! I was SO happy! I know it will change from year to year, some being good some being not so good but, with how behind I was and how nuts it made me, it felt good to be able to do well! Thanks again! Guest guest
Yo Yo balloons are balloons that have a little bit of water in them, then are blown up about the size of a large orange, then tied with a rubber band string. They are special balloons for these, as the ones we had tried making ourselves broke VERY quickly, lol! There are kits to make these, and you can get those kits from oriental trading company. Once made, you tie a finger loop in the 1 end. You slip your finger thru there, and bounce the balloon up and down like a yo yo (you can catch it, and kids are even at the point of doing tricks with them, lol)!!!!!! These balloons are cute and FUN!!!!!!!! LOL! Hubby wanted to see if he could blow one up by mouth........needless to say he bout popped his eyes outta his head and it didn't even budge the balloon, lmao! The kit comes with the balloons, the rubber band strings, directions, a template for balloon size, and the pump you need!!!!!!! And, it costs 19.95 for 100 balloons. I sold my incense in packages of 12 for 2.00. Online and thru brochure they will be 2.50 or 2.75 (gotta check things out again and refigure things). HTH! Guest guest
Thanks. As soon as hubby downloads the derned pics, I will get them posted to the photos section. He didn't get the batteries today cause he was more worried about getting things unloaded. SO, it will be tomorrow when I get home from work that I will get to mess with putting them up. Will let you know. Incense was actually easier than I thought it would be. You make up a solution of DPG and FO, then soak the incense sticks in that solution. Then, take them out and allow them to dry. Package and wala. Lots of scent thru the house while they are soaking, lol! My house smelled like a FOHO-house when I was doing the incense up!!!!! WONDERFUL to smell! LOL! HTH! Thanks again. Alice in SD Re: This weekend's show results for me > > All in all, this weekend turned out great!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!! Always good to here. Guest guest
Hi Donna, You can make hand rolled incense or you can purchase the blank incense sticks and then scent them. This option is very easy and there are probably many recipes on the net. We use to carry incense but It became an impractical item for mail order.. For instance, a person would order a bar of soap and a pack of incense , This would require a long box and much packing to insure they arrived in one piece., so a $2.00 item would require $2.00 worth of packing. Guest guest
I don't mind at all. The show was an Art's and Crafts show. ANY craft as long as you make it yourself! It is juried, which means you have to send in slides and pictures (pics showing you in the process of making the stuff) and they decide yes or no. My booth was 10 x 10, that is the size of the spot you get. You can get double spaces for double the rental fee, or electric spots for 10.00 more. I made the incense just as you stated, take a blank, soak in FO/DPG mix, allow to dry (use a fan), then packaged. I packaged mine 12 to a baggie. The bags were the incense bags which are 2 x 12. Then, I made up a bag topper using my PSP program, put the name and info on there, then folded over the top of the incense baggie, then stapled the topper to the baggie. Punched a hole in the top middle of the topper, hung from a peg on a pegboard. I sold them in packs of 12 for 2.00. Good luck with your show! You will do fine. I was scared to death my first show (last year) and again this year!!!!!!!!!! Jitters don't go away I think!!!!! LOL! Any more questions, just gimme a shout! Guest guest
Sold the yo yo balloons for 1.00, which is what everyone charges for them. My kids went nuts over those things in past years, so I knew they would sell, lol. Guest guest
Thank you! I actually started looking into making soaps back in August of 2004. Made my first soap late that month, and was hooked, lol! Got my website in Dec. 2004 (and it still isn't built, lol) and did a craft show last year (just one, same one I did this year). Otherwise, I sell mostly to family and friends. Alice in SD Re: This weekend's show results for me Alice, congrats on your sales made!!! It sounds like you did really well.
