Guest guest
I've tried such recipes however I didn't appreciate the smell of the Vodka. I used 100 proof Vodka and it didn't have much of an odor but it did with most E/o and fragrances. I'm going to try denatured alcohol which is 190 or 200 proof. Has anyone else found this to be true? wrote: > I saved your recipe below for body mist. Has anyone else found this to be true? Certain cheap vodkas and grain alcohols like Everclear can contain fusel oils which impart an odor to your perfumes. One way to remedy this is to run the vodka through a coffee filter full of activated charcoal (used in aquariums) to remove the odors. Let settle and decant the alcohol. Denatured alcohols (ingredients have been added to make it unfit for drinking) specially formulated and deodorized for perfume making are an alternative to using vodka, and are legal for resale to the public. One grade of perfumers alcohol is 39C.
Guest guest
I noticed you didn't get a response. I've never made this but have it in my files. <(((>< Repost of a recipe from Sherry Barker: Here is a simple non-drying Semi-Natural body mist recipe. 7 oz distilled water or herbal infused water 1 oz vegetable glycerin FO of your choice 1/32 ts germall plus powder Heat water in large glass measuring cup in microwave till it is 120 degrees, sprinkle on germall plus powder and stir till dissolved, pour into a blender, slowly add the glycerin and blend till emulsified, then pour into sprayer bottle. The glycerin acts as a preservative as does the germall plus powder, if your selling your product use germall plus, if not, can make without it. hth Sherry www.herbalsoap-healingcreams.com Body Mist Looking for a recipe for an after bath body mist. Guest guest
germall plus is a preservative. Products that contain water need a preservative to prevent spoilage. If you are making small amounts for personal use, you don't need it for this recipe. You can by it at most the online suppliers. Here are a few links you might try, although I don;t know for sure if they carry it. http://www.todieforsoap.com http://www.brambleberry.com http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com http://www.soap-junkie.com/soapers.html http://herbalsoapsbyrj.com http://www.betweenfriendstoo.com http://www.snowdriftfarms.com Also check The Library: http://www.luxurylane.com/thelibrary/index.htm for links to suppliers and for more recipes. the link is found at the bottom of every email. <(((>< Re: Body Mist please tell me what germall plus is and where i can buy this thanks sandra sandra.elegare@... Guest guest
Hi Misty, I don't think germall is avaiable at HFS. Here is a guideline " recipe " for a body mist that I got off a list. It uses alcohol as the preservative. >>>the way I do it lets say you want to make a 8 Oz. bottle of spray; either body spray, or linen spray...is fill your bottle half full of perfumers alcohol (or Vodka), then add about 10 to 20 drops of your fo or eo, then shake it well; the oil will just go right into the alcohol. Then slowly fill the bottle with room temperature water. some folks use distilled water. add a drop or 2 of color if you want and swirl it all together. If it clouds, just let it sit about 24 hours, and it will clear.>>>> <(((>< ----- Original Message ----- can germall be found at a health food store?
