Guest guest
In E-groups there is a Perfumery list that tell you how to make perfumes and extract rose oil from petals. I believe it is around 200 pound of rose petals make 100ml of OIL which is why it costs like 300 -400 dollars pure and why most rose oil had jojoba mixed with it. I can actually write out the distillation process for you if you want let me know. The perfumery list is very informative concerning scents ect and is good to be on for the information that can then be used in soaps and lotion ect. Guest guest
Hi , I've used both dried and fresh petals in my rose petal soap. Either way they need chopping up fairly finely and, if used fresh, some sort of preservative is a good idea unless added early in the process. hth Di

Guest guest
Sage, I ran out and got the rose petals and M & P today and made some of the soap petals. I read a little about the M & P before I started and I think the big thing is to make sure you don't overheat the soap...today I heated it for 20 seconds and then for 5 second intervals until it was done (it only took one 5 second interval after the initial 20) and I didn't get any bubbles ...the petals looked so pretty when they were done..I just can't wait to put them in the gift basket I am making. Good luck...this was such a fun little project !!! Vicki

Guest guest
Sagie-poo, I made some this weekend and they are SOOO easy. I just melted the M & P in a large measuring cup like I always use, and then dipped the rose petals in the soap a couple of times. Hold them up for a minute or two to let the dripping stop. Some people said to then lay them on some waxed paper, but I didn't have any last night, so I used an aluminum round cake pan, and stood them up on the ends to dry. This morning, all I had to do was clip off the last little drop that had hardened overnight, and WOOHOO...pretty soapies!! I scented the M & P with Rose Absolute Oil and they smell so good!! Guest guest
Judy, The current thread is with silk roses. Buy silk roses and glycerin melt and pour soap. Melt the soap then dip in one rose petal at a time. Let it drip, then set it aside on wax paper to dry. You can scent or color the M & P soap any way you like. Good luck. ¸..·´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- Sage -:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´*

I use the rose petals BUT.........whatever scent I use I dip a whole flower of that scent and put it in the middle for a center piece/air freshner..........looks very nice and people cant get enough of them. Heres a hint for ya.........if you have any construction or trucking types in your life put a few unisex or manly scented petals in a zip lock for them to carry with them, then the used petal can be kept in their vehicles in a piece of netting or breathable fabric bag as an air freshner. Guest guest
Me, too. I'm heading to Garden Ridge on my way home to get more petals. I'm going to " branch " out and try some tulip petals and some other flowers. I scented mine and they smelled so very good that I'm going to break out my other " flower " EO's and FO's tonight, too. Honeysuckle should smell wonderful!! Re: rose petals I don't remember who started the rose petal thing...but thanks...now I am addicted to making these things !!!!!! Guest guest
I have done fall leaves in the fall and holly for Christmas. I also did some poinsettia petals at Christmas. I would think any flower petal that was the appropriate size would work. I keep a dish full in the bathroom at the craft shop where I have a booth. It has sold many a package of rose petals for me. Donna AAAAHHH! another person has bit the dust down the Rose Petal Path ....Not only are they fun .... but have not met one person who did not like them ...Any ideas on what other flowers we could do?... someone on
Guest guest
Hi, I've been on the list for only a week. My husband and I are re-enactors and he is a beekeeper. I have lots of beautiful beeswax and honey to make natural products with. I am in the infant stage of learning. The only things I've made have been lip balm and perfume balm. I can't believe how easy they were to do. I have two questions. One is about labels. Where is a good source for them or do you all do your own? I have searched the archives and haven't found the receipe for rose petal soap. Would someone repost it please. I love the website and this list. It's fantastic. Guest guest
I went to bed thinking of these things LOL. I make silk bridal bouquets and the thought struck me that these would be nice in the bathroom and done in the flower the bridal bouquet is --- and they would be a nice attendants gift also. Just a thought---Glitz Re: rose petals Judy, The current thread is with silk roses. Buy silk roses and glycerin melt and pour soap. Melt the soap then dip in one rose petal at a time. Guest guest
Well, Charile, since you ask... My craft and cheapy stores have silk lilacs, gardenias, irises, tulips, wisteria as well as things like ivy and other leaves. Essential oils or fragrance oils are available that would match or compliment them. OR, how about some cheapy big petal white or pink flower that you sent with bubble gum for kids? Or, just use white petals and a variety of colors in the M & P, scent it sweet and call it " M & Ms " for kids. Or, use any ol' petal and brown M & P and call it " Dirt " or " mud " for kids. What kid would not like to wash his or her hands in dirt? Or....somebody help me stop...please.... ¸..·´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- Sage -:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´*
