HI Rita

If you used exactly the same ingredients, then I can only assume that

you may have left something out or measured something incorrectly...

Boy ....I know that happens to me sometimes, when I get distracted,

or think I know the formula by heart, LOL, then I leave something out

or do not use exact measurements and it turns out all wrong!

So I use a checklist and print out the formula and check it off as

I measure and add it, so in case I get distracted I don't leave out

something and can read the exact measurements from the print out.

Also watch the temperatures, the lotion needs to be very warm to hot

when mixing oil and water bases, cooling down to 120 before adding a

preservative.

Stearic acid is melted along with the oils/butters/emulisifers to 170

degrees and holding, as is the water base to 170 degrees and holding,

before combining the bases together.

Thanks Sherry,

After reading your email I think I may have been a little too overconfident with

the second batch. I was distracted because DH was out and about in the kitchen

and because the first batch turned out so beautifully I was confident the second

one would too so I didn't worry about the distractions and just zippy doed along

making lotion and chit chatting at the same time. I'm fairly new to lotion and

cream making so this is good lesson for me *lol* not to take for granted that a

recipe will turn out every time if I don't give it my full attention!

Thanks Sherry!!

Rita.

Hey Rita

We have all been there, done that ! LOL! Had a few hundred failed

batches of products myself in my time too! Most of which was caused

by inferior ingredients or mostly from lack of attention to detail!

Found it is best to make products when your alone, no kids or hubby

around, like at midnight! LOL!
