Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have updated the formulas for the Whipped Velvet Butters. I hope you find them useful and enjoy using the formulas. God Bless :-) Update Whipped Velvet Butter There are several ways to make a Whipped Butter and one way I like to make it is by adding some other special oils. They help it to be looser when it is whipped and they also add to the goodness of the product. You can just whip the Shea Butter by itself and that will add air to it and it will be of a firm cream constancy and be very rich for the skin. That it great for someone that has a challenge with super dry areas on the body. Just remember not to whip to much air into the mixture, because it will fall, like a Scuffle, when it gets the least bit warm. The 2 formulas below are updated. I found that I wanted a bit more firmness than it had before, so I have added another oz. of Stearic Acid to the mixture. Because this is such an oily formula, it is super for those with very dry skin areas. Due to the chemo I went through last year, the soles of my feet are very dry. They even hurt sometimes when I walk just because the skin is so dry, if I don’t keep them moistened and keep them pumices and filed. These butters have been a great help with this along with a lotion that I make based with Shea Butter. If you add some healing Essential Oils, to it and other helper oils for Psoriasis and/or Eczema and other dermal rashes, that could be a help in that area. Also if you make herbal infusions with oils, you could use some in place of 1 or more of the oils. I used the parts measurement of 1 oz. So if you wish to make your own with other combos of oils/butters/stearic this is what I do. 4 parts liquid oil 3 parts of a real butter, not a manufactured one (Shea, Cocoa, Mango, Kokum, etc.) 3 parts Stearic Acid You could also add small amounts of any vitamin oils you would like. TLC Whipped Velvet Butter formulas update below. TLC Soaps and Sundries Whipped Velvet Body Butter #1 1 1/2 oz. Sweet Almond Oil, Apricot Kernel or Avocado 1/2 oz. Jojoba 2 oz. Coconut 76° or Fractionated Coconut Oil 3 oz. Shea Butter (Unrefined Golden Yellow) 3 oz. Stearic Acid 1 tsp. Vitamin E or 6 1000 I.U.s squeezed into the mixture 1/8 tsp. FO's or EO's TLC Soaps and Sundries Whipped Velvet Body Butter #2 1 oz. Meadowfoam Seed Oil 1 oz. Jojoba 2 oz. Fractionated Coconut Oil 1 1/2 oz. Shea Butter (Unrefined Golden Yellow) 1 1/2 oz. Cocoa Butter 3 oz. Stearic Acid 1 tsp. Vitamin E or 6 1000 I.U.s squeezed into the mixture 1/8 tsp. Lavender If you like you can add 2 to 3 tsp. Arrowroot to try and help with the heavy oil that this type of Cream has. It will make is spread well as well, but for general areas of the body it does not help with the greasiness because those areas of the body usually do not need a heavy oil product. Heat Oils, Butter and Stearic Acid over medium heat till melted completely. Stir frequently. When melted, take from heat, add Vitamin E and your fragrance. You can start whipping it with your stick blender by cooling the mixture down. Place your pot in a cold water bath in the sink. I add ice cubes to the cold water in the sink and move the pot around. Remember do not over whip, it will not hold the excess air. Whip it to get it to the thickening stage and then scrap and stir, off and on with my heat resistant spatula until it is cooled. . I did find that I only needed to whip it a few times because as it cooled it stayed very loose. So I just kept scraping and stirring and letting it set now and then in the cold water batch, with the lid on, till it cooled down. Then I jarred it up and label. If you have ever whipped real butter to make it easier to spread on toast or other breads, it is the same procedure, except that this is all melted down to a liquid and then be whipped and stirred and cooled. I prefer to add Essential Oils to my butters, ointments, whipped butters, because I want them to help with healing. Here are a few suggestions of Essential Oils that are easily obtainable and not real pricy. Lavender, Lavender/Ylang Ylang, Chamomile/Lavender, Peppermint, Lavender/Ylang Ylang/Patchouli. There are other Essential Oils like Carrot Seed, Helichrysum, Rose Otto and others that are more expensive, but are used in just drops and add healing to the products they are used in. Herbal Infused oils using Calendula, Comfrey Leaf and Root, Chamomile, Chickweed, Arnica and many others. Those are just a few that give helpers for the skin. -- Rita...Homeschooling Mom in Georgia May the ~A~ngels up ~A~bove Guide you with Love ~A~ http://www.tlcsoaps.com

I have tried Cornstarch, don't like the way my skin feels with that one added and have tried Arrowroot, still not pleased with how the skin feels afterwards. So now I just use it as is because it does great for those parts of the body that really need it. Like my dried, cracked feet and heels, that have not gotten better even 15 months after the last chemo treatment. sigh.... another thing is that most people that want a ture body butter, without all the synthetic junk that is put into many mass marketed stuff, they will want that extra oil that is needed for certain skin problems. HTH hon God Bless :-) Rita...

Guest guest
Rita, you mite try one of these lotion recipes with shea butter - I have found that works very well on cracked dry skin - my elbows get so dry they hurt cuz they snag clothing. IF you're not allergic to lanolin you might try a veriation with that also. I for one dont have any reaction to lanolin and am happy for that.
