Hi

It depends on what protection you want. Manufacturer of the active

should usually supply specs and compounding iformation. In general,

you will usually also need cinnamate or equiv. And Zinc micronized is

much more expensive than Titanium micron. You work out % accourding

to factor level you want. Each titanium is milled differently. This

is why you need the specs from the supplier/manufacture.

Both can be added to a lip balm at about 10% of total weight.

However, one can NOT sell this balm to the public AS a " sunscreen lip

balm " , because sunscreens are considered a " drug " and not a cosmetic,

by the FDA. The SPA of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide is only about

5-7 % so it is not very strong.

hope this helps
