Guest guest
I volunteer to also moderate posts. I moderate applications (but not posts) on the ITBS forum and another one. Ann Forum Change The Chondromalacia Community has now changed to a moderated group because of the increase in spam postings. All postings will have to be approved by Doug from CT or by me. I'm, unfortunately, swamped with other things and will not be able to review postings in a timely fashion, so I'm open to adding other moderators. I have not been able to keep up with the postings recently (bad founder!), but I did want to address this issue because I know spam ticks me off and it must bother you as well. Thanks! Guest guest
Just a suggestion.....I also own a discussion group. My way of addressing spam is to have restricted membership instead of open membership. In either form only members can post, but I have to approve new members, and if members post spam, I have the right to take their membership away from them. I notice chrondromalaciacommunity is open membership according to the website. I think Doug and I have this figured out, thanks to great feedback! The forum is back to UNmoderated, EXCEPT for new members, AND you have to be a member to post, so we can boot your butts off if you spam. So if someone joins just to spam, we get the spam sent to us first to approve, which we won't, then we ban the member. Whew! It's like the Brady bunch blended family gone wild... (Which of the Brady kids best represents the spammers? ;-D And is Doug an architect? ;-D ;-D) Good luck with knees, everyone! Guest guest
That's why I'm a moderator on my two other groups -- when a person joins, they receive an e-mail from -owner telling them to reply with a message so we can know that they're not a spambot. That goes to me and the other moderator(s), and all we have to do is hit reply & it goes to the Inner Sanctum of & then they're approved & get the approval letter & can post. Guest guest
Thanks, Darla. We weren't getting a lot of spam (the ITBS group was getting so much nobody wanted to read it anymore), but that last one was really offensive, and it'll be nice not to get any anymore. This group is invaluable. Ann Forum Change > > > The Chondromalacia Community has now changed to a moderated group because of the > increase in spam postings.
