Guest guest
Hey ... i started taking an anti-inflammatory just 2 and half weeks ago and i have been almost completely pain free for 4-5 days now i am totally amazed ... i took Mobicox in the past and it did not work for me and i also tried arthrotec and had started Vioxx just 2 days before it went off the market so do not know if it would have worked but i am on BEXTRA ... ( valdecoxib tablets) whatever that means & it says its an analgesic anti - inflammatory ... it may be a new medicine as i was given sample boxes ... i want to research it on here if i find it cuz new medicines scare me but IT SEEMS TO WORK .... i have not been this pain free in over a year and i am so happy but not sure what the long term affects would be or how long i could stay on it ? try it ... has anyone tried or heard of this drug? Guest guest
I had actually asked my doctor about Bextra, but he seemed to think Mobic would be better (maybe because Bextra is too close in chemistry to Vioxx (rofecoxib)?) I don't know. Anyway, so far, I am not overly impressed with Mobic. I am going to see a couple doctors next week who have done an Avon PKR on a woman I talked to on the knee geeks discussion group. I was also referred to them by Dr. Crawford at Oregon Health and Science University....it is a couple hour drive, but in the same town my two boys live. I am tired of the pain. What has really made it depressing is the fact in the last week I have talked to two acquaintances who have had replacements (hip-TKR) since my LR and they are doing great. Guest guest
If you get a PKR, pleeeeze, pleeeeeze tell us all the details. Also, where are you? My OS wouldn't even consider a kneecap implant. Guest guest
I am in SC Montana. Ironically, Dr. Crawford who referred me to Alpine Orthopedics in Bozeman wouldn't even recommend an Avon implant, but it is amazing he, along with most OSs I saw, knew nothing of the Avon. The lady I talked to was the first to be done in Bozeman, and I think the main reason that even happened is because she was employed by some type of medical research on campus of MSU and had educated herself to her own options like many on this group had. She had a TTT at the same time she had a PKR, and is in her early 40s. This surgery just happened several months ago. I hate to divulge too much info, but she has many postings on the kneeguru.co.uk site, especially under PKR vs. TKR post. She signs her name with MT underneath which drew my attention, and I have been messaging to her privately for the last couple weeks.
