From: Tina Shang <rogersvillemom@...>Subject: Hubby has shingles - need suggestions for how to help him"vaccinations" <vaccinations >Date: Friday, 13 August, 2010, 17:09 Hi everyone. My husband has been diagnosed with shingles. He has had them for about 6 days now. They want him to go on steroids and an anti-viral and a nerve pain medicine but we are reluctant to say the least. He is pretty miserable though so we do need to figure out something to help him be more comfortable until he gets through it. He is diabetic and has high BP so I do not want him on a bunch of meds. We are trying to control these through diet and exercise without meds. I also wonder if I am at risk of getting shingles and, if so, what I can do to minimize the risk. I have four children. One has had the chicken pox. One had the chicken pox vaccine and the other two have not been vaccinated nor had the chicken pox. Do you think they will come down with the chicken pox now?-- Tina D. Guest guest
Another thing is a special honey cant seem to remember what it is called but it begins with M and you get it from health food shops. It has a natural antibiotic and healing properties in. Also Aloe Vera again health food shop. The bath oil is very soothing and relaxing. I suffer with very severe eczema and can only use the shampoo with it in. All the ones that I get from the doctor with so called steriods in hurts like crazy and I will not touch them. Guest guest
Yes Tina that is the honey. I have a doctor friend (mainstream as it happens) she said if she ever needs antibiotics she uses that as she would not touch prescription ones. That says it all really. It is excellent and my homeopath swears by it. She says that coconut butter is good for eczema but I prefer Aloe Vera. Also for bad eczema try a wheat free dairy free diet as it completely cleared mine altogether. They can get chickenpox from shingles it seems but you can't get shingles from someone with shingles. Has he been under stress? How is his immune system? This is usually a wakeup call about such things. I would NOT do the meds myself as they will just be suppressive and damage his immune system further. Sheri -- Tina D. Guest guest
None of those drugs will cure the shingles. That's reason enough for me not to take them. But you get shingles when your immune system is down. Steroids will suppress the system even more. My father-in-law had shingles and for a couple of years afterwards until he died he had eye pain from it. He was constantly going back to the doctor for more meds and other treatments. It never really helped. I would do all I could to boost his immune system. My usualy formula is Larix, quercetin (which is great for any skin-related problems) and Vit. C/D3. And diet, as you're doing. Poor guy. Winnie Hubby has shingles - need suggestions for how to help himvaccinations > Hi everyone. My husband has been diagnosed with shingles. Guest guest
When I had shingles, I took large dosis of L-Lysine (1000 mg 2-3 times a day) and B-vitamins. I used kinesiology pain block technique (Melzack-Wall, my husband and I are chiropractors, were students back then), and was rid of the pain/worst blisters in 10 days. But of course that doesn't get to why I got it in the first place, which was high stress and not taking care of myself. Hope your husband feels better soon! Annette > > Hi everyone.
