question about personal / philo. exemption

Someone I know asked me a couple of questions that I'm hoping someone here can

help with. (They don't mirror my own situation so I'm not 100%.)

1. Oklahoma has a philosophical exemption. Can it be used if a person

selectively vaccinations? (In other words, if they choose to do a couple, but

not most.) On http://www.know-vaccines.org/exemption-legal.html, they claim,

" In many of these states, individuals must object to all vaccines, not just a

particular vaccine in order to use the philosophical or personal belief

exemption. " But they don't say _which_ states and I don't see anything

specifically in the Oklahoma laws when skimming.

2. What should be written on the form for a philosophical exemption?

Thanks!

That is a really good question. One of the benefits (if you want to call it

that) I always understood the philosophical exemption gives is the right to pick

and choose vaccines. BUT in looking at the law, it's not clear.

See here:

zations_For_School/index.html)

" Q: Where can parents obtain exemption forms?

A: Parents can obtain exemption forms from schools and childcare facilities. "

However, looking at some schools in OK, here's Tulsa, which claims to be the

biggest district, with all sorts of forms but no exemption form. There's also no

mention of exemptions at all here:

(http://www.tulsaschools.org/schools1/forms/HD1.pdf) or at a couple of other

schools I checked.

I would probably put it exactly like this: I___, the parent of _____, object to

such immunizations because of religious or other reasons, per Oklahoma Statute

10 Okl. St. § 413.

Is there a reason why you want to go this route? You don't HAVE to list any

reason in OK. You can use this form:

http://www.vaclib.org/letters/RefuseVaccines1.doc

http://www.vaclib.org/letters/RefuseVaccines1.pdf

This way, you can pick which vaccine you want to decline and never list why

specifically. I turned these into the daycare and they didn't think twice

about them. You can also write your own form with anything you want to say

on it.

I would think that if a person had the option of a philosophical exemption, then

for school or anything they could just use that for ALL vaccines as far as the

school is concerned, if they chose to have one or two vax then they could keep

it between them and their doctor.
