I am actually infusing some tea roses right now in Jojoba (although I would rather be using some fractionated coconut as it seems to be better at capturing the scents). I haven't infused rose petals before so we will see how this turns out. I am working on having a nice assortment of rose oils to choose from and so, hopefully, this works. Right now, I am just changing out the petals every few days, straining and replacing with the roses that are starting to wilt on the bush. We also ordered several different Tea Rose Hybrids from Heirloom a few weeks ago and can't wait until they produce some buds!!! Maybe someone has a success story about either tincturing or infusing some roses?? I am also in the process of buying some Organic Grape Alcohol from Alchemical Solutions in Ashland, OR and am very excited!!! I haven't tinctured in alcohol yet so I can't give you any tips right now! Welcome! Nikki www.gabrielsaunt.com

Hi Nikki I think you're waiting too long to tincture. You should pick the blooms on the day they open, before the hot sun cooks the oils off. After you pick them in their prime, you can lay them on newspaper in a shady, cool place with good air circulation to wilt a little. It is good to get the water out a bit before infusing or tincturing. Usually a few hours to half a day is fine. Yes, I had my Lilac infusion go bad on me because of mold. I let them wilt (I thought) a sufficient amount of time with every batch, but I checked the infusion a few days ago and there was mold! I am wondering if I need to store these infusions with a lid that has some small holes?? Would this help for any water remaining to evaporate?? You may have to do this every day to avoid spoilage, but it's worth it. Guest guest
Welcome, Christy! Yes, do just that. Write up a letter quoting the state law exsctly and attach it to your health form. You can get info on PA's laws here: http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requirements/pennsylvania.aspx " Religious exemption. Children need not be immunized if the parent, guardian or emancipated child objects in writing to the immunization on religious grounds or on the basis of a strong moral or ethical conviction similar to a religious belief. " Just put " We, ____, the parents of ____ object to immunization on religious grounds. " (Or " on the basis of a strong moral or ethical conviction similar to a religious belief " ). Both parents sign, date, put your address and get it notarized if you want. That's it. I would be very upfront about it, and firm (but friendly) that you know it's your legal right if anyone hems or haws about it. Guest guest
I always suggest attaching a copy of the law to your statement and do NOT ever try to explain anything. Guest guest
Hi Christy, I'm in PA but about 3 hours from Hershey. In PA there are all 3 exemptions available. All I ever did with my kids in daycare was type up someting saying that I oppose having them vaccinated due to my personal convictions. I had it notarized and turned it in to the daycare to keep on file. I'm sure the same would be true with any school district. Just send it to the health office at the school / nurse. le > > Hi all! > > My name is Christy. I am mom to 3 children, ages 6, 3 and 2. Guest guest
Hi Christy!! I am in PA about an hour or so from Hershey and I never did any of that. When it came time to register my daughter 3 years ago and my son a month ago, all I did was fill out all the papers and then when the health form came, there was a tiny checkbox under the vaccination record that said exemption. I just checked the box, wrote " it is my God given right not to vaccinate my child " and then I signed it. No problems, no questions. =) Stacey
Guest guest
Thank you for the replies everyone! Stacey, I just looked again at the health form and the box to check is there! I didn't see it before! I feel much more comfortable with what I need to do now. Thank you all! Christy > > Hi Christy!! > I am in PA about an hour or so from Hershey and I never did any of that.
