Guest guest
Look into Roseola. It's a very high fever for 3 days and then an outbreak of a rash...caused by a virus. My daughter had this. She was really not doing well with the fever and I gave her tylenol. She looked so ill and was so uncomfortable it scared me. Obviously, continue to nurse. My ped said most kids get this by the time they are 2 yrs old. Who knows? Best of luck! > > My daughter's been extra clingy and sleeping a bit restlessly for the last two days, but otherwise has been fine. Eating well, sleeping the normal amount, no tummy upset, no rash, nothing. > > Tonight she was even more clingy (only me, and I had to hold her constantly) and spiked a fever...we only checked under arm because she is squirmy and that's what we were told to do, and that (which I know is usually a bit low) was 103.5. I thought at first this was teething as she's been chewing on me, but not with that fever. She is still eating well, nursing well, in relatively good spirits (just tired, but it is late). And NOTHING else. > > What could this be? I almost wonder if she hasn't caught a " vax preventable " disease that is manifesting very mildly, like early stages of mumps, chicken pox, etc. Because there is just nothing else wrong with her. Does anyone have any ideas? > > btw we gave her a warm bath with lavender oil, are holding her/nursing on demand most of the time, and letting her sleep...that's it. I'm a bit worried but not going to give tylenol. We did give chamomila because I thought it was teething pain when her fever was still around 100, and she had teething tablets earlier. She's dressed in loose, cool clothing and is in a room that is a " good " temperature (not too warm or cool...I figured too cool and her body's homeostasis would raise her temp further). I'm hoping by tomorrow the fever will be gone or at least down, but if not, I'll keep doing the same. It's hard to believe she's " sick " when she has no other symptoms! > > --Kate > Mommy to Rebekah, 1-26-08 > Baby #2 due 7-26-09 >
Guest guest
> Could be roseola. See if she gets rash in a day or two. Roseola was the first disease ds got which manifested a high fever with no other symptoms. When fever dropped the next day, rash appeared on his back & tummy and then it was all over. But roseola can bring on high fever but it's harmless. I hope she is feeling better soon. Katarina My daughter's been extra clingy and sleeping a bit restlessly for the last two days, but otherwise has been fine. Eating well, sleeping the normal amount, no tummy upset, no rash, nothing. Guest guest
Yup...My DD had it too...fever of 103 for like 3 days, and then a rash for a few days and then it was gone. Very clingy and whiny and wanted to be held all the time and nurse. I had her in the babywrap most of the time so she had free access to nursing whenever she wanted. We never used any medications at all. I also made sure to eat really really really healthy while she had it so that my milk was as healthy as could be for her. GL! See if there is a rash in a few days....otherwise just hang in there and keep doing what you're doing. Lots of nursing and sleep and cuddling. Have her sleep in your room in your bed for a few nights (if you don't already) so you can check on her as often as you need to. I was always so thankful to co sleep especially when DD was sick. Good luck!!! Tara > > > Could be roseola. See if she gets rash in a day or two. Roseola was the first disease ds got which manifested a high fever with no other symptoms. Nurse on demand, don't suppress the fever... and get out your sling. If she were " contagious " , you may pick up on it and form some antibody support. Hang in there. Guest guest
CLingy is a keynote for the remedy Pulsatilla - almost no matter what other symptoms there are. Do you have/can you get Pulsatilla? 30C? Just sent instructions to the list of how to use remedies. Yes, it could be Roseola - but don't harm the body by giving Tylenol. Allow your children to look ill, please.
