Guest guest
Okay, so I visited the midwife last week and she suggested the Vitamin K shot. They don't offer an oral version because they are offering it due to state law. I've already read about HDN and I'm not so worried about that. What did surprise me was that the midwife said that until my real milk comes in, my breastmilk will not be very high in Vitamin K. That confused me as I have heard BFing as a reason why K is not needed - but apparently that starts after the colostrum goes away. So I looked into it more and found that K does cross the placenta, and my diet is reasonably high in K so baby should have gotten some K... Anyway, my problem is... we have an hour ride home from the birth center... and I worry about the chance of getting into an accident on the way home (I will not be driving). Will baby have gotten enough K from me to prevent her bleeding out if we get into a car crash? I know it is all highly theoretical, but I can't help but to worry about that as I won't be in control of the car... -Lana " There is nothing more useful than sun and salt.
