Guest guest
Thank you SO MUCH for everyone who responded to my post about the ENT results and removing my son's tonsils and adenoids. Almost everyone who responded talked about removing dairy first and realizing that this could be an allergy thing. This is going to sound really stupid , but is Almond Milk considered dairy if it's GFCF ? My son NEEDS warm milk in order to sleep - he will not go to bed without it so we stopped whole milk about 2 weeks ago and he loves the almond milk. he is very picky, only eats maybe 4 things total and will not try new foods so going to GFCF right now seems terrifying for me. Can anyone give me advice on what kinds of foods are big NO NO's for this " eliminating dairy " trial. I started him with a chiropractor and we ordered the juice plus that was suggested. He's on an acidophilus and also Florastor right now and just a basic multi-vitamin - that's all I have him on now, I removed all of the other supplements because he had dark circles under his eyes and was stimming like crazy on them. He seems to be better with his behavior since stopping all of the supplements but still has a sinus infection right now and massive massive diarrhea from the rocephin antibiotic shot they gave him yesterday. Thanks so much for your input. I can't imagine not having these message boards for help- they are a life saver ! J
Guest guest
Almond milk is not dairy. Not a stupid question--you need to ask whatever you don't understand. Don't give him cow's milk or cheese, butter, yogurt, although I kept my son on yogurt and he still improved (FYI--it might be at least three weeks before you see any huge change). You need to read the ingredients, including in supplements/drugs, bread, etc. Look for casein and whey--there are other terms to look for, too, but I can't remember them. Try to avoid packaged foods for now--probably not too difficult if he's only eating four things! II wouldn't worry about the variety of foods as much as about avoiding certain ones. My son was down to just rice puffs and got better. Today at 18, he eats too much! If your son is picky, he might be very sensitive to taste and/or texture, or even be nauseated by certain foods. What are the four things he eats? Guest guest
Well, I hate to say it but Juice Plus? Not GF. It has barely in it so if you are avoiding gluten then it's a no. Sorry! Sometimes it isn't even the dairy, it's the pasturized dairy so if you have a source of raw milk that could be something to think about (you want it from a good reputable source of course). Goats milk also can sometimes be fine. What do you normally like to eat? That's a good place to start with suggestions. One of the hard things to avoid for me is the butter in everything. Makes it hard to eat out. HTH some,
