I just gave birth two weeks ago I am O -

I straight out refused the 28 week shot, my doctor gave me his two

bits about it, I shared information with him (Sherri's Info) and we

left that appoint amiably. With the understanding that after the

baby's Birth if the baby was in fact RH pos we would revisit the issue.

Please note I thought it was very funny that all of my hospital

paperwork had a BIG RH Negative stamped on it.

Needless to say baby was born 2 weeks ago, I asked them to test the

abilical cord for blood type, and then ironically 24 hours later had

heard nothing, I finally called the nurses station before we all left

and guess what Baby was o Neg too.

I wish that would happen to me too! Dh is A+ and I’m O-

Haven’t had one yet that was negative :::sigh:::: I keep hoping but dh

punnet squared it and said my odds were very unlikely

Congratulations on the new baby! Isn’t just the neatest thing

ever?!—which is frustrating to see someone formula feed and vaccinate

such a little tiny thing..so tiny. They need the protection from NOT

vaxxing and the antibodies from breastmilk… at least in the hospital or

at least the first 6 weeks.

Yes, it it given to protect the next baby. As far as I am aware, there has

been no testing on the safety of giving it to pregnant women, and I would

refuse on that basis alone. IMO, if you are not planning on having more,

then it's just not worth the risk to the baby in the womb to protect a

potential future child. I refused the rhogam during pregnancy with all of

my children. I was going to get it after birth, except my first 3 were

negative. My 4th was positive, but I don't plan on having more children,

so it was unnecessary. Up until recently, they were only giving it after

birth anyway.

I was given rhogam during pregnancy with my first and she's about to turn

19.. so in the US.. how " recently " is recent if you are referring to the US?

I had to refuse it with my last to get out of so they're still doing 28 week

shots routinely

Rhogam would not be necessary if doctors waited to cut the cord. The blood that remains in the cord belongs to the baby. It goes back into the placenta and into the mother. Really? Wow! I wasn't offered it for my first babies back in 2005 and 2006.I was

offered it for the 3rd and discussed it with the midwife for the 4th. I assumed

that was normal not to be given rhogam back then (2005). I had a pregnancy back

in 94, and was told then that I would receive it after birth, nothing about

during pregnancy.

I received rhogam for both of my pregnancies - 2002 and 2006. I had a midwife with the first, and a NP with the second.

I assumed that was normal not to be given rhogam back then (2005). Rhogam has been given since the 1940s. The 28 week shot is relatively new.The most conservative protocol is to deliver the baby and delay the cord cutting, take a cord sample of blood to make sure no blood has been mixed; then send the cord sample to the lab and give the mother the rhogam shot intramuscularly within 72 hours if there is any mixing of blood types. ~ Maureen R.
