MAKE-A-WISH

Sunday, 22 January 2012

Okay, who among us has has never wished for

something, huh? We make-a-wish before blowing out the

candles on our birthday cakes. We make-a-wish with

someone when we snap the wish-bone from that piece of

chicken. (Baked, I hope!) And of course,

when we were kids, we all at one time or another

wished-upon-a-star.

Many of the things we wish

for can come

true, that is, if we're willing to work for them.

Oh yes, wishes are magical things. But you know

what? Many of the things we wish for can come true,

that is, if we're willing

to work for

them.

If you wish to become a doctor someday, that's

wonderful. The world needs more dedicated doctors,

like my own Dr. Geller. But my doctor, your doctor

and any good doctor

for that matter, didn't just wake up one morning and

discover they'd been given a license to practice

medicine. They had to study hard, beginning in high

school, graduate and attend some university then go on

to medical school for even more study and training.

But after several years in school and a hospital

internship, their hard work pays off and you can now

call them...Doctor!

I wonder how many kids today wish they could become

the next Bieber? They want to have their own

music videos, sell lots of CDs and have throngs of

adoring fans. All well and good. But if you wish

for a big music career or to be seen someday walking

up on stage to accept your for Best Actress,

you've got to work for that do. Wishing

for it alone is

never going to make your dream come true.

"Oh, how I wish I could

lose this weight."

And oh yes, the same goes for weight-loss. How many

times have you gotten out of bed in the morning,

looked in the mirror and said to yourself, "Oh, how I

wish I could lose this weight?" Okay, you can

stand there in front of your mirror as long as you

want, waiting to see your wish come true. But

hey, you're not looking into one of those magic

mirrors you read about in fairy tales when you were a

kid. The magic? It's

inside you!

And that magic is all about rolling up your sleeves

and doing the work it'll take to make your dream come

true. You've got to take charge of your eating

habits. You've got to make exercise your body's new

best friend. (It is, you know!) And you've got to

work hard everyday at both, while keeping that

attitude of yours focused on making your wish come

true.

Hey, I made wishes when I was a kid, too. (I didn't

have to wish for the food, though. It was always

there and, believe me, I got much more than I

needed.) But when I began wishing to lose

weight, that's

when the I've

got to work for it part of my

wish entered the picture.

What's on your wish

list? Is losing weight at the top of your

list?

So tell me, what's

on your wish list? Is losing weight at the top

of your list? Well, I want you to remember what I

said. Making a wish come true almost always requires work on your part.

In fact, just about anything in life worth having, you've got

to work for it.

So go ahead. Make a wish to lose that weight then...go

to work, making your wish come true!

Love,
