MIRACLE IN THE

MIRROR

Wednesday, 04 January 2012

Okay, today's message is going to require

that you do a little exercise for me. And no, this

exercise will not require you to sweat, either.

(Although I do want you to do that later today, if you

haven't already.) But right now, the exercise I want

you to do requires that you stand in front of your

full-length mirror and take a good look at yourself.

Are you there yet?

Do you have a positive

feeling about the person you see looking back at you

in the mirror?

Now, take a that look at yourself, head-to-toe. What

do you see? How would you describe yourself? Do you

have a positive feeling about the person you see

looking back at you from the mirror? Be honest with

your answers because now I'm gonna tell you why I

asked you to do this exercise.

See, last night, as I was watching TV, I came across

another one of those weight-loss commercials. I've

told you before that I like to see what those

commercials are claiming so I can alert you to all of

the weight-loss gimmicks that are popping up out

there. (Especially this time of year.) I'm also

interested to hear what the people offering

testimonials about the product are saying. Now, get a

load of what this one woman said:

I look so wonderful after losing 60 pounds. I'm

just thrilled with how fantastic I look now. Before

losing this weight, I looked absolutely disgusting!

Whoa! That

one word she used just about threw me for a loop! I

mean, your body, no matter what you weigh, is anything

but "disgusting." And people who say that about their

bodies are not doing themselves any favors.

Your body is a miracle!

And there's nothing

disgusting about it!

Your body is a miracle! It does everything

for you, no matter what you weigh. And, I'm telling

you, there's nothing

disgusting about

your body! Look, I know you're not pleased because

you're overweight or obese. But I want to ask...WHY are you

overweight? Is it because your body is "disgusting"

or is it because you've lost control of your eating

habits and made no time for exercise..at all! You

want to call your body disgusting because of

your own lifestyle? Tsk, tsk, tsk. That's

truly unfair. Wouldn't you agree?

So tell me, is that lady's word one you'd use to

describe your

own body?

Do you agree with her that your body is "disgusting."

Oh, please...please don't put that

idea in your head about the miraculous creation that

is...your body.

Can I be honest with you? What that lady said about

her body? Well, that was

the most disgusting

thing about the entire commercial. The first

step toward losing weight is loving

your body enough,

right now, no matter what you weigh, to do what it

takes to help you live a longer, healthier, happier

life. And yes, it begins with your losing the

weight. Here's a reminder. You're looking at a

miracle in that mirror, baby. That's just what your

body is and there's nothing "disgusting" about it.

Thank you for taking part in my little

exercise. And oh yeah, don't forget to make that

miraculous body of yours sweat today with...an hour of real exercise!

P.S. Be sure to watch my appearance on The

Doctors tomorrow.

Check you local listings for air time.

Love,
