Do

you know your family's medical history? That history

dates back to members of your family who lived on this

earth years ago but now reside in Heaven. But it's also

important to know the medical history of your family

members who're still living today. And why is it so

important? Well, because your family's medical history

can give you a clearer picture of any medical challenges

you may face in your own life.

I

wonder how many people suffered heart attacks years ago

but were not aware of their family's heart history?

It's important to know because it would have been a good

indicator of heart problems that may have been in that

person's gene pool...and future. Medical

issues that plague one member of the family are

generally passed from one generation to the next.

Did one of your grandparents have diabetes? Does your

mother have high blood pressure? Do members of your

family tend to get arthritis? If you're not so sure

about your family's medical history, talk to older

members of your family. I'll bet they can tell you

plenty about the medical issues that have been a problem

for your family in the past.

Now I'm not saying that all of the medical problems your

family has faced, you're going to end up suffering from,

too. I just want you to be aware of those medical

problems that have plagued your family over the

generations. That way, you'll be more aware of what to

look out for with your own health as you grow older.

Because when it comes to your good health, knowledge

is power. See, the more you know about your

family's medical history, the more prepared you'll be to

look out for your own good health. And be sure you

share this information about your family's medical

history with your doctor, okay?

Over

the years, I've known lots of people who knew their

family's medical history but chose to ignore it. I also

know some people who, in spite of having diabetes for

instance, ate whatever and as much as they liked. But

as a result of their careless eating, they ended up

losing a finger or toe due to complications from their

diabetes. Then there are those people who have high

cholesterol or high blood pressure but are doing nothing

to improve their health by losing weight. You know

this kind of behavior isn't smart!

Maybe members of your family never made exercise a

dedicated part of their lives, either. Now, there's

another "not-so-smart" thing to do. But come on

everybody, you know how important it is to make exercise

a regular part of your lives.

Truth

is, no matter your family's medical history, you can

still live a longer, healthier life if you're doing the

right things, eating properly and making exercise a

regularly scheduled part of your life...everyday.

And hey, that's a medical fact!

Love,
