LENNY & ME

ON HALLOWEEN

Monday, 31 October 2011

I just love sharing stories with you about my

one and only brother, Lenny. Growing up, he and

I shared so many Halloweens together. My father would

make our costumes and my mother would go to

Woolworth's to buy orange Jack-O-Lantern buckets for

us to collect our Halloween treats. And those buckets

weren't small, either! They were about the size of

one of those giant tins of popcorn you might see at

Walmart or Target! LOL.

My parents would escort

Lenny and I door-to-door through the French Quarter

collecting our treats. Trick-or-treat!

As night fell, around 6PM, my parents would put on

their own little Halloween masks and escort Lenny and

I door-to-door through the French Quarter collecting

our treats. Trick-or-treat!

We'd hold out our Jack-O-Lanterns and the person who

answered the door would drop the candy into our

buckets. Oh, I just loved it!

The people at the door would always say, Oh, you

two are just adorable. And I'd

proudly say back to them, Our dad

made our costumes!

As the years have passed, I haven't spent Halloween

with my brother in ages. He lives in New Orleans and

I'm clear cross country here in Los Angeles. I keep

begging him to go door-to-door with me,

Jack-O-Lanterns in hand to trick-or-treat but he

always says no. But this year is going to be

different!

Yesterday was Lenny's

birthday.

Yesterday was Lenny's birthday and, as you

know, we just got back in from our Cruise To Lose.

Lenny decided he didn't want to travel on his birthday

so he and his wife, are spending a little extra

time here in Los Angeles with me. And I'm so glad

they did!

I just love spending time with my brother. He's a

couple of years older than me and was always my

protector when we were younger. When I was having

trouble with a homework assignment from school, I

could always count on Lenny. For just 50 cents, he

could solve any homework problem for me. (Okay, I'm

just kidding about the 50 cents part. LOL.)

But when someone hurt my feelings or made me feel low,

Lenny would always sit with me, listen to my problems

and say just the right things to make me feel better.

That's just the kind of guy my brother is.

So today on Halloween, the day after his birthday, I

have something special planned for him. We're going

to Universal

Studios and

there, they're going to dress us up as ghouls and then

we're going to ride all of the scariest rides

possible. Shhhhh! Now don't say

anything because it's all going to be a big surprise!

What will you be doing on

this ghoulish Halloween night?

And tell me, what will you be doing on this ghoulish

Halloween night, huh? Do you have kids? Are you

taking them trick-or-treating? Or are you dressing up

yourself, scooting around on your kneespretending you're a kid

to load up your own Jack-O-Lanterns tonight? LOL!

Now if you'll recall, a couple of weeks ago, we talked

about chocolate.

And because it's Halloween, I'm giving you permission

to have just two

teeny-weeny miniature chocolate bars as treats!

And remember...no more! Hey, we don't

want those candy treats turning into tricky pounds, do we?

Happy Halloween, everybody!

Love,
