high doses of monolaurin?

Has anyone here ever tried taking very large amounts of monolaurin? I like it

for warding off colds, and I tolerate it well, so I'm considering doing this.

I've occasionally read some comment or review about somebody's getting excellent

results from it as an antiviral for hepatitis or EBV. It gets kind of expensive

taking large doses, though.

Thanks,

Ellen

Ellen, I cannot take monolaurin, but I just killed an oncoming cold with

megadoses of Vitamin C. Apparently, Linus ing was right! Dr. Myhill from the

UK says take it " to bowel tolerance " . Check out her free PDF format book for

folks like us!

She's a pioneer, who's been getting ALOT of flack (sp) about her work...

After considerable research, I decided to only buy Lauricidin (NFI),

since it's pure with no fillers or additives. Most monolaurin is only

50% monolaurin, since it's loaded with fillers and additives. I don't

like wasting money on garbage, nor do I want to put anymore of that in

my body than necessary.

I found it worked great for shingles. However, the doses needed to

control the virus were quite large. I just could not afford it, since

I'm on SSDI. It would have cost about $25.00 per week, even with the

quantity discount. I wish I could afford it. I'd go back on it in a

heartbeat!

How high a dose are you talking about? And, did you find anything else that

controlled shingles?

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi Ellen,

controlled shingles?

Six to nine grams per day. No. Colloidal silver works well to suppress

it, but you cannot use it for more than two weeks at a time, and as soon

as I stopped it returned with a vengeance. I tried several times, each

time with the same result. I will not take pharmaceuticals. Besides,

they do not cure, and you can't take the antivirals for more than a year

anyway, according to the manufacturer, even though doctors prescribe the

stuff for years longer. The manufacturer cannot guarantee either safety

or effectiveness.

I tried Monolaurin in the 90's, it did not work for me but am not sure about

high doses.

Coconut water contains Lauric acid which is in Monolaurin and that is

anti-viral, lots of info on the web on how coconut water knocks out the flu.

I take large doses 500mg twice a day. When I first started taking it, it made me

herx. I have Lyme disease so apparently it was killing that off. Between that

and arabinogalactin (larch tree) I don't really get colds very often. Though I

think the arabinogalactin is more important for the cold prevention.
