There is a real cost associated with sampling 1-10 grams for QC purposes to a customer that all too often will not buy the representative batch. Time is a factor. When sent to a fragrance house, the sample is usually accepted or rejected in 1-4 working days, and the lot packed and sold. Sometimes the house will lock in the whole lot to be bought over a set period of time. There is real cost associated with breaking down bulk material and repacking to avoid head space/oxydation, etc. So,... unless you are dealing with jasmin, tuberose, Saffron (sold in 10-50gm samples!), etc. the bulk qualities are sizeable (this is a relative assumption). If the wholesaler has 10, 25 or 50 kilo drums, he wants to sell the WHOLE drum. Lavender/Lavadin oil, spike, citronella, etc, come in 400# (55gal drums). Lavandin abs may come in 20-25 kg containers due to viscosity issues. It is easier to heat and make pourable 20-25kg, than a 400lb drum. There is time and product waste when opening and breaking down into smaller amounts. For certain product, when a drum is opened, and product taken out, it has to be transferred into smaller containers, or used within a reasonable time... AND remember that often, the product has to be heated to transfer... each time the product is heated, it suffers.... AND if kept in a refrigerator, like Jasmin, it needs to be warmed before pouring... not practical for the small customer. So the bottom line,... the small buyer has to go a retail outfit (they may call themselves wholesalers, but you know what I mean...). I have no idea whatsoever what I did that convinced them to do so. But I never ended up buying anything yet, the minimum order is 100-2000 gram, and there are only a couple of things I could buy in that amount without risking spoiling them... Hopefully I could use them down the road when I need them for those quantities... Guest guest Posted October 3, 2006 Report Share Posted October 3, 2006 I just was diagnosed with ET about 1 year ago. It appeared during my 3rd pregnancy. And now I am pregnant with number 4. The doctor said to have all my kids as soon as possible before I start to have complications. So far none. I will try and find a homeopath in the area.
