that gp needs to be taken down a peg or three.

first of all, you don't *have* to get into an

argument. " i am not willing to argue my case " should

suffice to shut him up and if he continues you can

point out that you see this as harrassment.

secondly, you could point out that he obviously hasn't

a clue if he says that vaccines don't have side

effects or something to that extent because if he ever

bothered to read the package insert for *any* vaccine,

there are plenty of side effects listed. and if they

are listed, then it means they do exist.

but yes, avoiding a gp or any puppet of the

pHARMaceutical scumbags is a very good idea.

Hi Jane.........it sounds lik eyou are very strong! You did NOT do it. It

would have had me in tears also. They are VERY INTIMIDATING, even to me,

the seasoned nurse that I am.

But you learned a good lesson about even going to them.

Just say no and it is not open for discussion.

I have a question for those suggesting not going to the gp. Here is

my dilema. The only reason that I have taken my baby to the gp is

because I want something on file that at all his " well baby " checks

he was " healthy " and fine. I just didn't want to not vax and then a

few years later if he did develop something of some sort, for the

government, or whoever, to say I was negligent. I could always

say, " I took him to the doctor all those years and he was fine. "

Incidentally, we haven't vaxed our 16 mo. old and he has only been to

the dr. for well-babies (again, they're not making much money off of

us). I know that it is ultimately the Lord that keeps him healthy,

but I do see a difference between him and the other children we know

who have been vaxed (in and out of dr. w/ ear infections, flus,

colds, strep infection, etc.).

Anyway, any thoughts on the gp dilema?

Old habbits die hard. I still take my boys in once a year for a physical. It

brings me peace and a paper trail and no harm done. Our ped does no lecturing

and the few times they were in with an ear infection, she was always ready to

help me monitor the boys while I gave them a chance to heal on their own first.

I don't think all doctors are useless pieces of garbage; finding a good one is

the trick. If I wasn't lucky enough to have such an aggreeable nurse

practitioner, I'm sure I would rethink going at all. No one should be verbally

abused while reaching out and trying to care for their child.

When you say you take your child to well baby visits, do you mean you keep up

with the recommended schedule of WBV's designed to administer vaccines or you go

less frequently?

Ditto for us too. The " trick " is to find someone that won't give you

a hard time and to get your exemption in writing and on file...that is

if you go this route....I would think that going to a hp they would

keep files too, yes? Wouldn't that suffice?

I had been putting off my sons 2 year well baby visit because I

didn't particularly like the gp doctor's office and my son wasn't

sick. I heard of a doctor that was supportive of decisions made by

the mother so, I decided to take him there. She didn't even flinch

when I told her we haven't vaxed my son since he was a year because

I had learned more about the dangers. Everything looked great on my

son ears, throat, heart, etc, stuff that I know nothing about so I

know at least now that he really is doing good and the doc thinks

things look great. So, I guess if you can find the right doc, this

would be ideal, but the problem is finding them. I had gotten a

recommendation from a friend.

Firstly I am so sorry to hear that P has been poorly. I'm very glad

to hear that she is picking up now though. She's a feisty little

soul, isn't she?

I am sorry, too, that your GP gave you such a hard time over vaxes.

It's in his financial interest to do so, as you probably already

know, but not his moral duty. He must have missed his target and

now he's probably rather desperate for his bonus this year,

Jane. ;o) Obviously hasn't got his holidays booked yet!

Jane, you are not a bad mother. You are one of the best I know, and

how you can think you are weak is beyond me. After all that you

have gone through with W, and come out the other side *despite* the

damned doctors, I'm not sure how you could ever believe this idiot.

Plainly he hasn't got the foggiest idea of what you are like, nor

the ability to work it out.

You are not a hypocrite for taking P to the doctor's - he is there

to provide you with a service, and how much of his *service* you

choose to use is up to you. There is nothing wrong with having her

checked over - after all, you wouldn't be able to diagnose

pneumonia, say, if she had it, would you? That's his job. But how

you go about treating whatever is wrong with her is up to you. He

has no right to criticise - his way is only one way. And not

necessarily the right way, either!

There is a saying that infections last a week with antibiotics and

seven days without - or something along those lines - and it's very

true. In life or death situations, they can sometimes be of use,

but I think most prescriptions for a/bs are probably unnecessary.

As you've seen, P is getting better on her own.

No, Jane, you're not. You're very strong.

the

He's sort of got that backwards, though, hasn't he? What can you

say about a doctor who doesn't even understand this simple concept?

Natural immunity *only* comes with natural exposure - from *active*

immunity, not *passive*. *Every* vaccination damages, imnsho. To a

greater or lesser degree. It may not always be perceptible, but the

damage is there. And the risks can be very great...

>

> this is the first time i have took my daughter to gp since she was

I am sure you are probably right. But the orthodoxy will never

admit it.

>

> wrong which is backed up.

Jane, there are loads around your area. A couple of the INP members

are up your way too, and might have personal recommendations. Could

you ask the question on the list? Otherwise let me know and I can

let you have some names.

As for your doctor - you aren't going to find research that proves

that unvaxed kids are healthier, and if you did, he sounds like the

sort of person who would find a way to turn it on its head.

Depending on what you want to *point out* to him, there is bound to

be information out there on active and passive immunity - but you

would have thought he would have covered that in medical school!

YOu'll never get him to acknowledge vaccine damage though. ly,

it probably isn't worth the hassle - medics have the habit of

getting the last word. Use him to practise your deep breathing,

relaxation techniques, Jane! ;o)

Lotsa love,

Sue

So far, I have gone to all of the well baby visits, but no vax. The

nurse asks me each time, " so you're getting such-and-such vax

today. " I'm like, " no, remember, I'm the weirdo that doesn't do

that. " :) Actually, I keep saying we're undecided. Which we are,

but we aren't going to go through w/ it unless we're 100% sure that's

what we want to do. I don't see that happening. When 1 in 150

children are getting autism and they can't/don't explain why, then

they aren't touching my child w/ that stuff.

That's a lot of visits to the doctor for a healthy baby. If your not vaxing, may

I suggest only going for a physical and for an illness your not comfortable with

treating yourself. Why line their pockets and waste valuable time and money?

Just my measly two.

My children haven't been to a doctor in about 5 years, except for a yearly

sports physical they are required to have to play sports in high school. We

only use homeopathy, but our homeopath is 1000 miles away. :)

If I had a baby and wanted a paper trail (or just needed reassurance about how

the baby was doing from time to time), I would take him/her to a chiropractor or

naturopath, as finding a good classical homeopath in one's area is like finding

a needle in a haystack sometimes! Some have been fortunate to find gps that

don't give them a hard time about not vaxing, but for those who aren't that

lucky, I'd say try a chiropractor or naturopath.

My 2 cents. :)

Re: dr said I am a bad mother

Hugs, Jane...you will weather through this...no use arguing with the

jack & ## - just get yourself different care. In a couple of years

you'll be rolling your eyeballs at what he said to you, but right

now, I know the pain is fresh! I had one tell me I would kill one

of my kids because we cosleep - hmmmm - on number 4 right now and

haven't killed one yet.

You are not a bad mother so he lost his agument right then and there

by saying such a thing to you! He was being dramatic because he was

losing.

Sorry you went through that. I still like to have a doctor as a back up

even though I see a homeopath. Fortunately both the doctors I've seen

dabble in homeopathy and herbal stuff so they are pretty liberal (although

not my primary homeopaths) I've seen them for things I think may need an

x-ray, MRI, lab test, or referral to a specialist.

You just have to find the right one who will not consider it unusual or

negligent to not vax. Then I take their " advice " and do with it what I

want. Just because they prescribe antibiotics doesn't mean I have to fill

the script. They have no right to treat you like that. I think now that

you are out of the office, a well written letter of disqust to the dr. is in

order.

Poppy my little girl has had the 6 week check up and 9 month one,

and 18 month. My health visitor has gave up on me, she never sends

out letters anymore she told me Poppy is doing ok if i need her ring.

infact thinking about it not once was vaccinations mentioned at 18

month check.

jane

By the 18 mo visit, I would imagine they already knew where you stood on

vaccinations. And without agreeing to the shots, they have no use for your Poppy

as a patient. I'm sure it is very difficult for them to watch an unvaccinated

child thrive so well and need so little medical attention; not to mention the

vaccine and treatment money lost.
