I'm Kay Ang, from the QC group of homeschoolers. I've been a follower of your thread re vaccines. And am very interested to learn more. My 2 sons (8 and 5) have religiously been vaccinated (the last one was just a month or 2 ago), including bcg. This thread has been an eye opener for me. My second child, although vaccinated w/ bcg during his 1st or 2nd month, had contracted pc (primary complex) before he reached his 1st bday. Before he was diagnosed w/ pc, the only symptom that he had was having unexplained fever every morning (38.5 C and up). So parang naging vitamins niya ang paracetamol *(so that's why paracetamol became his daily vitamin)*, because I would give it to him after breakfast to lower his temp. He didn't have cough or colds, no loss of appetite (ang lakas nga niya kumain, and he wasn't picky at all-*he ate really well and wasn't a picky eater at all*). His pedia let him undergo all kinds of tests to find out why he was having fevers in the morning. She even gave him the tuberculin skin test, which came out negative. Sa bandang huli *(At the end),* pina-x-ray siya, and she referred us to another doctor, supposed to be the expert on pediatric tb. At yun na nga, may nakita daw sa lungs *(And the doctors found something wrong with his lungs).* So had to go through the six months of medication. After a month or so of medication, hindi pa rin nawala yung fevers in the am *(his fevers were still present in the am).* My kumare, a nurse, referred us to another pedia for 2nd opinion. When the 2nd doctor, looked at the x-ray, sabi niya baka hindi naman daw pc *(when another doctor look at the x-ray she said it might not be primary complex at all).* She asked us if we wanted to let Nate have another test, something for the immune system, w/c was really expensive (8 thousand yata. Goodness gracious!!! test pa lang yun!) At our wit's end na kami ng husband ko during that time, so we agreed. Pag dating namin sa lab, kakatapos lang ng cut-off time nila for the said test (maselan kasi yung test na yun. Another hospital does the actual testing.) *(when we arrived at the lab, it was closed)*. So, when we went back to the pedia, she told us not to go through w/ the test na lang muna. She doesn't believe in coincidences (w/c was a good sign. me neither.). Baka magastusan lang daw kami *.* Maybe it was a sign that Nate didn't really need it. So to end my long story, nauwi din kami sa 6 months na gamutan *(we ended up giving him meds for 6 mos)*, during w/c time my son had to endure an hour of fasting in the mornings after taking the meds. After 6 months, my son's appetite waned. Hanggang ngayon ang hirap niya pakainin *(until now it's so hard to feed him)*. He'll eat anything i cook, kaya lang sobrang tagal kumain *(he'll eat anything I cook but it takes him so long to finish it)*. I've tried everything, ginutom ko na rin siya *(I've tried everything, I've even let him go hungry just to see if his appetite will increase but)*. He can last throughout the day w/o eating. I've read somewhere na if fasting doesn't work, discontinue it right away, because it may lead to some form of anorexia (the hunger mechanism of the brain won't function as effectively, or something). He's now 5, and I still have to feed him most of the time. With homeschooling, at least I can slowly train him to eat on his own. Nasa regular school kasi siya last year, so we were constantly pressed for time. (*we were in a regular school last year and so were constantly pressed for time) *Now, he can take his time eating his meals (and he does! grabeh! umaabot ng 2 hours madalas per meal). The worst was one time when his lunch overlapped na w/ our dinner time. Pag-uwi ng daddy niya, akala matatapos na ng dinner si Nate. He said, " Aba, himala! Nate's almost finished w/ his dinner! " I said, " Anong dinner? Lunch niya yan no! " So far, hindi na naulit yun (thank you. God, for small miracles!). Right now, when his meal is taking too long, I set a timer, and when it goes off, eating stops (refrigerate his food), and back to school work. Mabagal pa rin, but I can see he's trying, and that's all that matters. We have all the time anyway. Tiyagaan lang talga. Thanks again for all the helpful infos you've shared to the group. Please continue the ministry. As I've told Jane in one of our conversations, IBANG LEVEL TALAGA SI ELLA!!! God bless you and your family always!
