Hi, Lu.

I gather from what you've posted that you formerly nebulized

glutathione and that didn't cause you fatigue, but now that you have

added hydroxocobalamin, it is causing you fatigue, is that correct?

I don't know anything about your case. I assume you must have

multiple chemical sensitivities, is that correct? Do you also have

chronic fatigue syndrome?

I think I would need to know a little more about your case before I

could suggest what might be going on. In particular, it would be

helpful to know what your answers might be to the questions I posed

to in message number 105083.

Thank you for your answer. I have cfs, fibro, and am chemically sensitive. I've

been

nebulzing glutathione for several years and, yes, the only thing I added was the

hydroxycobalamine B12. The additional supplements compounded by Key Pharm made

me

ill and I quit taking them after several days (the Zeim, Pall, Seymour

protocol).

I usually get B12 and folic acid shots once a week; I do not know the form of

B12. They

always help me with the fatigue.

I am not sensitive to sulfur-containing foods. My body responds well to protein.

I do have

problems sleeping and have much pain daily.

I have no problems with my moods or constipation, but do have general digestive

ailments

(I had h-pylori and haven't been the same since).

Regarding cysteine or methionine, I am fine with whey protein, but not with NAC.

I have

not tried SAMe. I did not respond well to 5-HTP (cannot remember exact

response). My

body seems to loves magnesium.

My homocysteine level was checked in the last 7 months and is normal. I do not

know the

plasma sulfate concentration or 24-hour urinary creatinine excretion.

My glutathione level has never been measured, but my body seems to love it. I

was very ill

when I first started nebulizing and feel much better on it.

I have not been tested for mercury or other heavy metals. I have not had a

urinary organic

acids tests.

I am a middle-aged woman trying to work and get well at the same time. I have an

MD

who is not a research doctor, but is open to any info I bring to him.

Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Lu.

Based on what you've reported, I would guess that you have

glutathione depletion and a methylation cycle block, but I don't

think you have a CBS upregulation SNP.

I don't know why you don't do well with NAC, given that you can

handle whey protein and glutathion alright.

I suspect that the reason why nebulizing the combination of

glutathione and hydroxocobalamine makes you fatigued, while you do

fine with nebulized glutathione and some type of B12 injections is

that when hydroxocobalamin is mixed directly with glutathione, it

forms glutathionylcobalamin. This is the intermediate in the

conversion of either cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin to the

active forms of B12, which are methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin.

Since more rapid formation of adenosylcobalamin would be more likely

to give you more energy than to make you fatigued (because it

assists in the conversion of methylmalonate to succinate, which

feeds energy into the Krebs cycle, I suspect that the fatigue must

be coming from more rapid conversion to methylcobalamin, which would

tend to unblock the methylation cycle.

You also mentioned that the other supplements in the Ziem-Pall-

Seymour protocol made you ill. There are quite a few substances in

them, so it's difficult to say for sure what caused this. However,

these supplements include several that would act on the methylation

cycle, the folate metabolism, and the transsulfuration pathway.

My best guess is that these supplements were too much, too fast. If

your methylation cycle is indeed, blocked, as I suspect it is,

taking all these things at once would likely have been quite a jolt

to your metabolism.

You might try taking smaller amounts of the hydroxocobalamin in the

glutathione, unless you're already doing just one drop. You might

also try taking smaller amounts of the other supplements.

If this doesn't work, then I would suggest getting the Yasko panel

run to see what your SNPs are. It's available at

http://www.testing4health.com. Once you know them, you could try to

compensate them in a slower and more systematic manner. That might

work better for you.

Thank you very much for the reply. Yes, the NAC is a puzzler since my body loves

glutathione.

I did not nebulize the B-12 today and feel SO much better (I was only adding a

drop to the

glut). I am going to discontinue it. Also, I am not going to take any of the

supplements. My

body rejected them and you are right, there are too many ingredients to know

which one

(s) cause me problems. Why on earth would someone give me so many supplements? I

have a history of being easily overwhelmed. I am very sensitive/deficient.

When I have more energy, I'll tackle my health problems again. Presently, I'm

trying to

recuperate from this protocol, which I am abandoning. I need to be more

productive at

work and can limp along as I have for years w/o adding anything new.
