Guest guest
I had a test showing I have trace (i.e. abnormal) levels of cadmium. Anyone have any idea what a source of cadmium could be? Thanks, Jim
Guest guest
Rich, I was exposed to second hand smoke as a child, but not for over 20 years. The cadmium was found in my neutrophils, so I'm not sure because of their life cycle if it means something recent or not. Thanks, Jim

Guest guest
cadmium is also in wheat. There is also zinc in wheat so the cadmium is normally not a problem. However the cadiumum is in the endosperm part of the wheat and the zinc is in the wheatgerm and bran. During the milling into white flour the part of the wheat that is processed out of the flour is the part that contains the most zinc. This then causes cadmium to have a higher than normal concentration in white flour than in whole wheat flour. I'm not sure if the difference is enough to cause an toxicity problems but it may be more a factor when a person is deficient in zinc.
