While I was there, I decided to try on some jeans. I bought a really comfy pair there a couple of months ago, but, they're sliding off my butt (Lee Riders, size 18 Tall)....so...I decided to try on some 16's....16's ALWAYS seem SOOOOOO much smaller than 18's to me.........I was honestly & truly doubtful that they'd even pull up over my thighs................well...........they didn't have any 16 Talls....only 16 average......and.....................for the first time in 24 years......I got into a size 16 comfortably! And was able to breathe!!! It was pretty awesome....until I noticed that they were just a bit too straight legged for me...and were too short. But, heck............it was a size 16.....huge motivator!! I turn 40 on Friday...it's pretty cool to be fitter at 40 than I was at 16 or 18 or whatever....Just had to share! Do you mind if I ask how much you weigh? I have been between 208 and 230 and seem like I have been in the same size forever. 20. I have a pair of 18 set aside to use as motivators. NH... Hi , Nope, I didn't buy them, they were too short. I'm 5'10" and 267 lbs., my highest was 380 lbs. & size 30/32. I was in a 20 forever, too....trust me....then over the last few months, my best buddy (and walking partner) kept nagging me that my pants were too baggy...she asked what size they were...I told her 18's or 20's.......so, she bugged me to try on some 16's......and amazingly they fit! They were Lee Riders from Wal-mart. But, as I said....too short....so, while I was out shopping today, I went to Burlington, and they had a huge rack of jeans on sale for $19.99. So, I tried on different brands (Gloria Vanderbilt, Levi's, and Bill Blass). The Levi's were mid cut, and I just felt like my underwear were showing in the back and the thighs were cut too skinny, so I didn't get them....the Gloria Vanderblahblah's felt like they showed every lump & bump....so I didn't get them....and I just didn't care for the Bill Blass ones (which surprised me...they used to be my favorite brand of pants).... Even though I didn't buy any pants, I still felt the victory of getting into all 3 pair of 16's...like I said...it hasn't happened since I was 16...it's sure helping me to cope with 40 tomorrow, lol... =)So, to make a long story short....keep on trying....don't give in....even if it's a pound a week or a maintain, you're heading in the right direction...eventually you'll get to goal....and even when you're not losing, you can still be toning up. I promise! I know that I'll hit 199 some day...and I'll be thrilled when it happens....but, until then, I'm going to celebrate each victory...scale or non-scale.... Sandi Quote

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you just hit my rough spot!!!! I have, without a doubt, the BIGGEST arms on the planet! And, it's hereditary. Even pictures of my skinny grandma, once heavy aunt, and my mom prove it.....I've told my husband that I wear the loose skin on my stomach as a badge of honor for having a 10 lb. son and the twins, and I don't have any major problems with it, but, man oh man, I HATE my upper arms. I haven't worn a sleeveless shirt (even around the house) since I was about 15 or so. They just hang...for inches.........UGH....I hear "Oh, do toning exercises".....I don't need to tone them...I've got massive muscles under all of that extra skin from carrying the extra 10 lbs. in each upper arm all of the time. I just need the skin chopped off....period...so, YES, I can TOTALLY identify with you! And, I've was between an 18-20 for probably 1 1/2 to 2 years. Don't give up! =)Ok...gotta help my son finish his homework....a travel brochure for ancient Egypt...fun fun fun! ;D Sandi Quote

Guest guest Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Sandi, this message was so inspiring. I went down to comfy 28's, 26's, and 24's pretty quickly, but it was a longer haul to 22's and about another 9-10 weeks to 20's. I'm still a 22 or 22/24 in tops. My upper arms have always been large, as well as my bust. *shrugs* It's like you said, you just have to stick to it and you'll get there eventually. I'm just so happy for you--16's! I'd be walking around with a big goofy grin for ages if I were you! And in case you're interested, JCPenney's has a good sale this weekend on jeans and they have a huge selection out here. Good luck finding some great pants! Have a fantastic birthday! -Bonnie > Even though I didn't buy any pants, I still felt the victory of getting into > all 3 pair of 16's...like I said...it hasn't happened since I was 16...it's > sure helping me to cope with 40 tomorrow, lol... =) > > So, to make a long story short....keep on trying....don't give in....even if > it's a pound a week or a maintain, you're heading in the right > direction...eventually you'll get to goal....and even when you're not losing, you can > still be toning up. Guest guest Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 1st - hope you had a great birthday! I'm pretty sure the Lee's have a tall - I used to buy talls - it appears that I'm shrinking though -I was walking on the hem of my last pair Just my size come in tall but I don't know if the come in 16's. Man, talk about different shapes - when I hit 265 at 5' 7, I was thrilled to get into a 24 with a zipper! LOL. Nope, I didn't buy them, they were too short. Thank goodness it's too expensive to get very often That's willpower. I'm also 'big boned - I'll never make dainty and petite - but that's ok. Broad shouldered - size 12-13 feet - big hands 52-50-56 - not exactly sure what 'body type' that is. I just can't do capris, even though most of the time I have decent ankles - childhood 'floods' flashbacks LOL. Keep up the good work! My son's high school baseball team just got finished selling discount cards for Coldstone & Mt. Mikes Pizza....basically buy one/ get one free until September. I've gotten to where I can stretch my "Love it" size to 3 servings. It's all about portion sizes. It's tough being the big boned one (my sister says that I don't look "big boned" to her...just "STRONG"!....but, she's a little thing of 4'11"....and small framed like our mom was. I had to literally laugh out loud at my friend this morning. We were talking about clothes & our body types (she's about 5'4" and weighs about 160...so, next to me, she's tiny)...well, she was saying that the top she had on was too small because it shows her fat belly. I had to try to convince her that she doesn't have a fat belly (she wears a size 12). She's got a tiny little pooch, but, she's also had 2 children...you're supposed to have a little pouch...it's like a badge of honor or something. Anyway, back to the thing that made me laugh..........she said (I'm laughing as I type this).....at least I don't wear my pants too baggy like you! You're just hiding your "LITTLE BIRDIE LEGS"! Oh My Goodness! I've never been told that I have birdie legs in my life, it was hilarious! Ok...so it doesn't sound quite as funny when I type it, but, man, in person it was hilarious! She was grabbing the sides of the thighs of my jeans and pulling them out like a clown. I was dyin! Time to head off to get the youngest one at school...have a good afternoon ladies! Sandi Quote

Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 now that's a great fundraiser <GBG> I just keep thanking my lucky stars that I'm not short like my mom, her sisters etc. I have one sister who's about as short as your sister, a brother who's only about 5'5 - the rest of us girls are all over 5'6. Bird legs - I love that and I can totally visualize it - my stepmom is 5'3ish - 220 pounds - she has no butt and these teeny, tiny ankles - I laugh everytime I see them because I wonder how she keeps her body from falling down! iwalk4tnt@... wrote: My son's high school baseball team just got finished selling discount cards for Coldstone & Mt.
