Guest guest
My grandmother has just been diagnosed with this after years of living with a smoker and stripping and refinishing furniture. Does anyone know anything about it? The doctors haven't given her a time frame yet, but what she's read is about 2-4 years. There are still more tests that they want to do, they may not know what stage she's in yet. I saw her today, she looks good, but is having a hard time breathing. She's been having a hard time breathing for years, but today was worse than I've ever seen her. They've got her on megadoses of Prednisone, I hope that doesn't kill her before the disease dose. :-/ From what I've read it may be another auto-immune disease, but the doctors don't know for sure. Guest guest
can't respond to that but my dad has been diagnosed with eczema (has it all over and is VERY itchy) - He was (is?) on prednisone too. Isn't eczema autoimmune too? He already has type 2 diabetes and various other medical problems. Any miracle cures for eczema besides a homeopath? They will not see one (is there even one located in KY?). They are very, very entrenched in the traditional medical establishment. Kinda OT - Pulmonary Fibrosis (?) > > My grandmother has just been diagnosed with this after years of living > with a smoker and stripping and refinishing furniture. Basically Pulmonary Fibrosis is from scarring of the lungs. Its kind of like a stiffening, toughening of the lung tissue and therefore it doesn't do its job properly (bringing oxygen to the blood). It comes from living with a smoker and possibly the toxic environment you have described, in many cases. But it can be misdiagnosed. Usually supplemental oxygen is the treatmetn. Prednisone can only bring death in the long run...........one of my parents neighbors was basically killed by higher and higher doses. I would get 2nd and 3rd opinions. It doesn't sound like her symptoms are too serious. Have they tried JUST oxygen? Its hard to say without knowing her. Have they tried JUST oxygen?>> Not that I know of. I will ask my mom. <<Its hard to say without knowing her. Of course, you know what I would say - see a homeopath>> Naturally that was the first thing I asked my mom, but it was hell just trying to get her to see an open-minded dr. My grandmother is of the generation where they don't question anything that a doctor/other authority figure says. :-( I have a feeling that part of a problem is the combination of all the pharmaceutical meds she is on. :-( I'm sure they alone would kill her without having lived with a smoker (at least my grandfather did finally quit after his 4th heart attack) and having used all those other chemicals.
