Hi Sheri,

I wouldn't beleive it either, but my husband looked it up when he

got home, and he found the NYS law that states it. The thing that

bugs me about that is that it seems like it is unconstituntional for

NYS to have such a law.... which is the reason for persuing the

suit. It also says something about the stupid eye ointment too. I

will ask my husband for the link and send it. I think it applies

here and one other state, Oregon I think?? I don't know, I'll find

it for you. It's really very upsetting.

we had a big old discussion when I was in labor about vitamin K. I refused

it. At first they said that they wouldn't do the circ .... (yes, I know,

don't even go there - should have stuck to my original threat if dh wasn't

there it wasn't going to be done) .... then they decided that they could do

it because he didn't have a traumatic birth. WHATEVER .... the eye ointment

was a whole other issue. I refused it. They said if I refused it that it

had to be reported to the state so that the nurse wouldn't be held

accountible if anything happened. So, I let them do it and wiped off his

face as soon as they handed him to me hoping for the best. Our doc said

it's no big deal (this is the non-vax group that I go to) and it beats the

heck out of having CPS show up at the door.
